Memorable, crazy movie
Highly Overrated But Still Good
This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
I AM ZOZO, was, for starters, a greatly themed film. The idea behind the film was creepy (a little reminiscent of the film Witchboard); though the film fell short on the plot and the action that every horror film buff/spectator/novice expects from a film like this. If I were rating this film on the performances, the musical score and the location that was chosen to shoot the film, I would have honestly gave this film a 9! All the actors did a fantastic job conveying their characters, even in the most simple forms. The musical score of the film made me want to soundtrack to it, while the location where the film was shot made me want photos of it...but unfortunately, a horror film cannot survive on just those factors; the delivery of the action plot needs to fit the intention and that is why the film falls incredibly short in its appeal and ratings. Otherwise, kudos to the film crew, the performers and the musical score. I'm sure the performers did all they could to save the film.
A gem of a movie. Creepy as hell.Well crafted. Impeccable pacing, subtle, yet moving ahead just enough, with perfect consistency, with the right amounts of foreboding and creepiness to make watching it almost uncomfortable, uncomfortable in the way you want a horror movie to be.Great camera work, subtle artistry. Great soundtrack.Rare to see a horror movie that borrows little to nothing from other horror movies. At first I thought the acting by the supporting cast was not great. The lead however was strong, and even the supporting actors rounded out well enough.A pleasant surprise to say the least. One of those movies I regretted seeing because I would never have the experience of seeing it for the first time again.
Beautifully captured images of the northwest with young people who seem like they are really young people. Relates more to a European film tradition. Listen to the music and the sound of the place. It was risky to make a movie about young people and fear and not use gruesome violence to define fear. I'm not a believer in spirits or the supernatural, but can be convinced that others do and fearing the consequences, have bad things happen to them. Relax, slow down, and let the movie take you on a a journey into an isolation and a fear of place and time. The characters and story were perfectly matched to the northwest.
These guys have a VISION, pay attention to them!!! This movie...Oh well I couldn't sleep for a few nights.... and to use Super8 film they bring back something very special for this type of movies....WATCH IT!!! all I can say. I don't like most Horror films, but this one is one of a kind. I have seen some of their past work with motorcycles movies and they are ready to do some very serious work, I think they got to that point with this Film and it shows that they are learning very fast and with class, which is not what other film makers have. The movie set is just perfect and the acting and story is a perfect blend, so if you are ready for a nice and special trip, take this words and enjoy the Film.- Alejandro.-
