When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
A young woman with a long-term phobia of the boogeyman voluntarily checks herself into a mental health facility with the hope of conquering her overwhelming fear. However, much to her horror, she discovers that some things are terrifying on purpose, and confronting her demons was not the best course of action. Boogeyman 2 benefits from a strong collection of performances from Danielle Savre, Tobin Bell and Renée O'Connor and honestly i think that everyone did a good overall job with the material that they had in their hands, where the film fell short in my opinion was once Boogeyman showed up since his twist is a bit of Michael Myers and the overall kills are beyond over the top but as i said the characters and the acting is good and there's some good suspense as well it's just that i wish that the main villain had a different approach as a character in general. (6.5/10)
(Credit IMDb) The script centers on a young woman with a long-term phobia of the bogeyman, who voluntarily checks herself into a mental health facility with the hope of conquering her overwhelming fears. However, much to her horror, she discovers that some things are terrifying on purpose, and confronting her demons was not the best course of action.Boogeyman 2 is a film I've seen twice now, and have managed to enjoy each time, just as much. It's not your typical, low-budget slasher junk; it's actually quite polished for a DTV sequel. It gives us better character development then I've seen in most DTV sequels, and not only that they are likable. Aside from a small couple of mentions this sequel is a complete stand alone, and it is better for it. As I stated in my review for The Boogeyman (2005) I hated it with a passion, so to say I appreciated this one's effort is an understatement. It throws in a surprisingly solid twist at the end, throwing in plenty of suspense for it as well. I didn't see it coming, nor did I expect it, so kudos to the filmmakers for that. Only real complaint is I wish Henry (Matt Cohen) had a better background story as to why he was so screwed up. Solid suspense throughout, good pace, a couple of good scares and you have yourself a better then expected slasher.Performances. Danielle Savre is very solid as the lead. She's likable, vulnerable, but also strong-willed as well. She's the heart of the film, and I was impressed by her poise. Matt Cohen is solid when he's on screen as Henry, but sadly that isn't as much as I'd like. Christine Griffith is good as the chick with issues, but with a heart underneath Michael Graziadei is good, but a little too self centered for my liking. Renée O'Connor has a small part, and did very well with what she had to do. Tobin Bell's presence alone is awesome itself, and he took what could have been a one-dimensional part, and added some much needed layers to it.Bottom line. Far from original, but I enjoyed myself very much with it. It's suspenseful, well made, and even somewhat stylish. Don't be put off by the title, it's a good slasher. Recommended7/10
I guess that the producers really had learned their lesson with part 1, the use of CGI was a complete letdown in part 1 but here we have a real boogeyman. It is even so that the boogeyman is more a real killer which gives us the fact that we are in the era of the slashers. The start of the movie learns us that two children witness the killing of both parents. The boy was already afraid and guessed that it was the boogeyman due the fact that the killer was never captured. For that reason they watched the children closely in psychiatry. Next stop, 10 years later. The boy tells his sister that he has to go. His sister is back in therapy but suddenly one after one people in her neighborhood get killed. She suspect the boogeyman is back in business. Once the killings start it's old school slasher style. I have seen the 93 minutes version in stead of the European version and I can say that the unrated version isn't afraid by showing the killings. It's mostly done in a bloody way or sometimes even in a gory way. The fact that the effects used are without CGI makes it all worth watching. It is also funny to see Tobin Bell as Dr Mitchell. I guess the director made an ode to SAW by putting in a device to rip open a chest. Anyway, Bell is excellent as all others who are really believable. You can guess easily who's the killer but the plot change gives it all worth watching. And for the ones wandering if all elements are in it to say it's a slasher, yes, Chrissy Griffith does show her milky ways in close up a few times. Sadly, part 3 was back to the imagination of the boogeyman in CGI, but the red stuff made it second best.
As young children Laura and Henry Porter witness the bloody murder of their parents at the hands of a faceless, hooded psychopath.Years later they remain highly disturbed, but Henry has recovered far more than his sister due to a stint in a mental hospital under the care of a respected psychiatric doctor named Dr Mitchell Allen. When Henry gets the opportunity to work thousands of miles away, his sister Laura decides that she too must finally confront her demons and voluntarily commits herself into the same facility.Soon her fellow patients begin to die..."Boogeyman 2" is the sequel that is almost entirely better than its laughably tame predecessor. There is a decent amount of blood and gore and the acting is not bad with "Saw" star Tobin Bell having a relatively small role. The film relies on slasher clichés,there are some huge lapses in logic and the ending is hysterically stupid.Still I rather enjoyed this suitably gory teen slasher.6 out of 10.
