Ten years after the starship Voyager's return from the Delta Quadrant, the Federation is in a crisis. The Federation's main suppliers of dilithium crystals (the primary catalyst for the fuel used in faster-than-light travel) are disappearing. Space and time have folded around several planets, isolating them from outside contact. The phenomenon is unnatural – someone or something is causing it to happen. The need to stop this necessitates drastic measures, some of which are outside the Federation’s normal jurisdiction.

Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Okay, first off I want to say that as someone who was born and bred in a family of Trekkies( I would have been excommunicated from the family by my Uncles and Mom if they had not seen the love of TREK in meh) I am seriously amused by the critiquing of the sub par acting that is in this made for TV movie. I know most Trekkies want to forget...but the inescapable truth is that Shatner is the biggest HAM of all time, the only one who comes close to his level of HAM is the Great and Fabulous Adam West. You can tear apart this acting all you want, but the truth is this show reflects EXACTLY what the OG Star Trek was all about. I know it isn't done on purpose (hehehehe) but it is still as lovable as any of the Star Treks. I mean Come On Son, if you can find it in your heart to have a Trekkiesque love for Voyager, or delude yourself into thinking Shatner was anything more than a B actor (until his stint on Boston Legal and he owes a lot of that to his chemistry with Spader) than surely you can find it in your heart to show a little love for this Star Trek entry. Clearly it was an attempt to introduce a new series that never got picked up, but it still deserves a little love. It's worth viewing once just for the chance to see Xena's (Love me some Lucy Lawless) daughter playing Kahn's (Love me some Ricardo Montalbon even more) daughter. I've seen WAY better from the Trek Universe, but I've also seen Worse.
Please ignore the idiot reviewer above - he must have a serious weed up his bum to have such a negative view of such an enjoyable movie.Yes,this is a B-Movie with a low budget, but I could not tell I was watching a B-Movie with a low budget. It was fun to watch, very nostalgic, and the introduction of the Renegades was awesome...This movie, as well as Star Trek Horizon, is more proof to me that when you allow people who truly love the Star Trek franchise create these beautifully made movies, that it will work. Loved it - and if you're a true Star Trek fan, you will too.Check it out, trust me you will love it. Check it out!
The acting is so, so bad. Even the old star trek actors from the original series and voyager used are bad actors and you can see why they never worked again. The supporting cast are really, really bad, it sounds like they've no acting experience and I've a feeling they were pulled off the street. The CGI and special effects are terrible, I mean late 90's quality. The aliens make-up and costumes look thrown together by a blind person.I've honestly seen pornographic movies with better acting than this and I've seen higher production values in 80's pornography. Some die hard Star Trek fans will appreciate the effort and seeing the actors again. Most with be sheathing that something so poor has been given the star trek name. Avoid at all costs
Overall, a great movie, a B movie, but very well done. it was awesome and with a little work would have been an award winning show. still, a great story and i like the direction that it has taken, with intrigue behind the facade of starfleet. The only bad acting was the granddaughter, but she only had 5 minutes total, and she was sweet, so no big deal. Loved the makeup and mask and characters. Captain Alveress was also shaky, which was a surprise, because he is a great actor, and a couple more. Overall, i really lost myself in this film and can't wait for a more mainstream cast and directors, sci-fi part was excellent. Bad to the bone ships. Lots of heart shown in the characters. Chekov was pretty good. The captain of the Renegades, she was awesome.
