Photographer
January. 08,2015The story is freely inspired by the life and work of Jan Saudek, who is probably the most well-known Czech photographer internationally and has indisputably been involved in the development of international photography. He has exhibited and sold his work in the largest galleries and art houses, he has earned international recognition and awards, he enjoys great popularity and interest - he is a true phenomenon.

Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.
This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...
I had high expectations of this highly advertised movie (in Prague). Expected an artistic approach with good photography (pun intended) and an intriguing story. What I've seen is the kind of movie that should go straight to TV viewing. Unimpressive camera, artificial editing of flashback scenes and forced dialogs. The actors often seem theatrical and non believable. I couldn't last for more than 1h. A shame as the subject had a great potential. For an idea of what this movie could have been, check out La Grande Bellezza. It shares some common themes: loneliness of the aging protagonist, well developed characters, beautiful scenes, etc.
