In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Wooden acting and poor quality special effects mar this Ken Maynard Western. Miniatures of the dam bursting and resulting water rushing down on the ranch simply do not impress today. Nor does the rear projection supporting what could have been a excellent scene where the hero is saved by his horse. Good opening shots of horses falling into the river. Ward Bond plays the bad guy.
