Purely Joyful Movie!
I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
Loved the movie: There's a lot to like - Snappy dialogue, genuine laughs, a bit of pathos and generally warm bubble-gum feel to it. Plus, of course, Sheen and Harmon (who looks good enough to eat) - who work well together and have good on-screen chemistry ; Lovitz and Peters - always good value; Richards and Arquette - who I normally don't like, but who do surprisingly well here; and a deliciously slimy Barry Newman. It's not Oscar-nomination stuff, but it is a very enjoyable way for canoodling couples to spend an hour and a half with a bottle of wine or a bag of popcorn.Hate the message: Shallow insider trader gets caught, fired, cuckolded, and eventually finds himself and his true love though being an agony aunt, only to get revenge and 1.5 mil with what? Yup, you guessed it: an insider trade. Money wins, and they all live happily ever after. God bless America. In 'Trading Places' it made sense. Here, I thought they could have done better.
Sometimes you just want to sit back and laugh, and who better to give you those laughs than Charlie Sheen. He is a ladies man just like "Two and a Half Men", but this time he screwed the wrong woman and lost it all. After future wife Denise Richards leaves him, he has to find gainful employment. He sneaks his way into writing an advice column.Estelle Harris was hilarious as the editor's (Angie Harmon) secretary. Harmon was funny, too.Jon Lovitz gives plenty of laughs as his best bud, and who knew Rosanna Arquette could be so funny? Paybacks are fun and funny.
This little know film is a sure fire sleeper. It stars Sheen as a New York stockbroker who's career is ruined when he follows some bad stock advice. Thus Sheen is forced to move in with his girlfriend Cindy (Richards) who is an advice columnist for a small time newspaper. Ryan then steals Cindy's job in order to keep her paychecks coming in, however his writing makes the column extremely popular. As the story builds Ryan begins to fall for Cindy's boss, Page (Harmon) who is the owner of the newspaper. Of course Ryan's scam falls out from under him when Cindy returns. The ending is surprising and the film ends on an a good note. This film is full of hilarious moments, especially when Ryan and Page go out on a business date and see a performance artist. The acting by Sheen, Lovitz, Arquette and Harmon is very good. Also Angie Harmon is about the best looking woman I've ever seen in my life in this movie. There is no doubt she is one the most gorgeous women on earth.
Charlie Sheen does best at playing playboy Charlie Sheen. In this film, he plays an investment broker (Remember him from Wall Street), well, he gets fired and needs money to pay the rent. His girlfriend played by Denise Richards, dumps him and goes to Brazil. She leaves her job as advice columnist hanging for the Chelsea Journal. What's Charlie to do but take her job and lie about Cindy Styne's reasons for not going to the office. His boss is played well by Angie Harmon who is uptight and single and available. He falls in love but has to keep up the pretension. A great supporting player is played by Seinfeld's Estelle Harris as the secretary who works for fun. It's set in New York City and filmed on location. Another supporting roles are filled by JOn Lovitz and Rosanna ARquette as a couple of Charlie's friends.
