I am evidently in the minority here, but this film is not nearly as bad as everyone says. For myself, the worst part of both films was the incredibly bad global warming science, but other than that, the second movie did a really good job of fleshing out the ideas from the first.I liked the idea that after Zane Ziminski (Charlie Sheen from the first movie) dies, he planned ahead well enough to send packages to five people who will potentially keep up the investigation into the alien invasion. I thought this was a really strong plot point, and it was nicely intertwined throughout the film. The obligatory love interest, Jane Sibbett is a beautiful woman, not a terrible actress, but has a squeaky voice. Patrick Muldoon is not bad in the lead, just kind of one dimensional. To be honest, if you are expecting Godfather II levels of quality for a sequel, you are expecting way too much. In reality though, the first movie was not that good. Charlie Sheen's enthusiasm and quirkiness carried the film, but there are several slow scenes that drag it down for me. I did not find the same to be true for the sequel. I felt it kept its pace really well. As sequels go, it is not terrible, nor is it great. It is a solid film that has its share of flaws, but to say it is terrible in comparison to the first one is not really fare, because this makes it sound like the first one was a masterpiece. it was not. rather, the the first one was a solid b+ film and the second arrival is a solid b- film.

The Second Arrival was a decent movie. I have not yet seen the original movie so I have no basis for comparison. I also saw it on television and it seems they cut out the nudity scene or else I was too distracted making dinner. It was worth the two hours it took to watch, but I would never buy it. The characters are believable enough and the movie did keep me on my toes. The whole plot is a very trite, Invasion of the Body Snatchers type thing, but on the whole it was okay. The alien script looked WAY too much like Klingon and gave The Second Arrival a rather Star Trekkish feel which was completely unnecessary. Yes, they are aliens. No, not all alien script looks like Klingon. I don't recommend it unless it is on television.

There is nothing redeeming about this film whatsoever. The Arrival was a unique, decently made film worth watching for anyone interested in sci-fi or aliens. This film is utterly horrible. It's so horrible that I don't want to waste time describing how bad it is. I have seen thousands of films and in my opinion this is one of the worst ever. Dismal acting, inexcusably horrendous cinematography, pathetic flaws. A spinning vortex ball has the ability to pull a building apart and suck everything and everyone into it, except for two people who manage to hang on to a bare concrete wall and eventually push them selves out a door in the opposite direction as the suction. Special effects? Home computer CGI. A person could spend as much time as the movie runs long describing everything that stinks about it.Unwatchable.

Contains some spoilersHave you ever seen a truly stupid movie? Well, if you haven't, go watch this one (and "Battlefield Earth"). I hardly know where to begin when describing this amateurish piece of nonsense, but I'll try anyway: the action scenes in this movie are by far the most poorly executed ones I've ever seen. There is no kind of tension whatsoever, the camera movement could have been done better by a 5-year old kid and everything feels very sluggish. The plot consists mainly of a terribly cliche romance, and some vague mumblings about alien conspiracies. Nobody ever takes the trouble to explain anything, and the villains get at least ten opportunities to dispose of the heroes but for some inexplicable reason they never do. For some reason, the male hero seems to know EVERYTHING about alien technology simply by looking at it, and the reporter isn't even surprised when tells her this. To top it all off, the dialogue is so bad that it almost made me smash my head against the wall. Most stupid leap in logic: while the heroes run away from the vacuum device in the power plant, all the plant's employees are seen actually running TOWARDS it seconds before the entire plant is destroyed. Yeah right. Only watch this movie with some friends and lots of beer, and the sheer awfulness of it might entertain you. Otherwise, being sucked into a vacuum might me more fun.
