Wow! What a bizarre film! Unfortunately the few funny moments there were were quite overshadowed by it's completely weird and random vibe throughout.
It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Awesome gore effects and a total lack of regard for good taste, this movie is disgusting and aimless, but a total sleaze classic. If you want to watch a movie where a cop kills a hit-man then pukes on his corpse or where a homeless man gets his member cut off and other homeless people play keep away with it, this is for you! There isn't much of a plot and it felt longer than necessary, but the melting scenes were so well done that it makes up for it.
Perfect. The deaths were fun and visually stimulating. One reason I love b-horror is the creative license of the visual effects guys and this movie does NOT disappoint. It was disgusting!... I love the fact that they did not go for your typical blood and guts, but used cool colors and took the effects to the next limit. Excellent, just excellent!
For a film that was released back in 1987, don't go expecting a master-piece, hell, i'd even go as far to say that i don't go for "outstanding modern pieces of cinematography" i prefer just a film that you may accidentally stumble across one late night, watch and completely forget about until someone else mentions is.Street Trash is a quite a task of a film to consider. The movie tells the tragic tale of a group of homeless people and the confrontation they go through every day to get there "fix" of booze. When the nearest cheap liquor shop finds a out-of-date box of liquid, the substance is sold for a very hobo-friendly price.Im not really going to ruin this film for you with the explanation on the plot, but i will say this:This film has a very dark under-current about it, necrophila, gang rape, mindless brutality all for the sake of it. There is some other the top reactions so many scenes and others with very little. Some scenes just don't feel in place, like someone has mixed up the order and replaced a section with filler, then went back to that section to try and carry on. Another thing that is pretty annoying; names, names are not clearly told in this (exept two, Fred and Freds Brother) most scenes only involve two characters, so they never refer to one-another by name. There is very little backstory to most of the characters, so you can only take them on face value. There is a few interesting camera angles and the way the film is cut, it's just intriguing to watch. There is very little i can say to give off the full impression this films gives you. The acting on the most half is pretty poor, but it has a sense of talentless charm, very much like Manos or The Room. The film is certainly "bad", but that good sense of bad that you don't mind watching. I got my copy for 50p at a electrics exchange shop, so i would say it was worth the money.Overall, this film is certainly worth a watch. Sure there was faults, but if you can look past them, you will find a film that you will never forget.
This is one of those weird flicks in the horror genre that still has a huge following. It's so strange for me to accept that because when I look at the year it was made effects stood already really far. On the other hand it clearly shows that it was an ultra low budget, if you have a close look towards the make-up of the hobo's then you see how bad that was. The effects used by Jennifer Aspinall are rather good, they are special on the part of the use of slime. It was well done and the use of brightly colors made it look strangely. It was J. Michael Murofirst attempt to make a flick. He was a good steadicam operator and it shows, he just wrapped Spookies (1986) and decided to do his first directing. It was okay but for me the storyline failed a bit. It takes a while before the melting comes on-screen. Okay, you have some in the beginning but after that part it slapstick galore. just look at the scene with the chopped off penis. It was outdated on my account. What surprised me was the use of some full frontal nudity from male and female. A thing I didn't expected from such a kind of flick. almost the whole bunch of actors were unknown and they never appeared in other flicks, a few did, the most known one is R.L. Ryan, a face seen in some Troma flicks. The director went further to steadicam in major productions like X-men and Titanic for example. Not my cup of tea Street Trash, I did like the camera work and the melting effects but it's not up-to-date to today's standards.
