But what they find is more shocking than anything they could have imagined. it is finally so absorbing because it plays like a lyrical road odyssey that’s also a detective story.
Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
Not nearly as good as the Blair Witch Project, lacks the suspense and unbelievable as a story. The Russian Newsfootage (in Russian) added a farce to the film that may have brought some humor but needed better editing. The real story is much more exciting and certainly worthy of a better homage.
one thing i can say with certainty is i had no expectations ( no high ones at least), and i was expecting something quite mediocre when i saw renny harlin's name attached as director. certainly his career has been on a downward trajectory of late. but, i have to confess, i found this kind of compelling. there are certainly some interesting ideas even if they don't resolve satisfactorily some of the time . it definitely goes some strange places i wasn't expecting. the mountain scenes are really atmospheric, the actors do well with the material they have. and what starts as a 'found- footage movie' gives way to a sci-fi/horror hybrid. i watched it on a rainy night and didn't feel i'd wasted my time - it got me interested in looking into the real-life mystery so it had some positive effect. i recommend it. it's uneven and sometimes fails to hit the target but this is certainly atmospheric and creepy and shows that the die hard 2 director still has some shots in the sling... i'm going to give it 6 for effort at least : )
Looking this movie up on IMDb, I was expecting a not so fantastic FF movie. After watching the movie, I'm starting to realize you're better off watching the movie before considering whether reviews or ratings are legit. I thought this movie was great from start to finish. From the beginning to the end, you will not get bored in any part. When there were slower parts which was from the beginning to the beginning of the middle of the movie, you were pulled into the mystery that kept you guessing. When a lot of action started taking place, you were still caught up in the mystery, but also enjoying the twists and turns. Especially at the end, you can appreciate what the directors did with this movie rather than taking a more than confident guess at the end. I was surprised how the outcome came about. Definitely worth watching and would highly recommend.
This movie was intriguing to myself as I am aware of the Dyatlov Pass incident. As far as historical facts go, the movie was mostly accurate of its telling of how the event transpired. The acting in the movie was fairly bad, but it is supposed to give a documentary type feel. It is similar to Blaire Witch Project in that regard. This movie didn't keep me on the edge of my seat, but I wasn't "bored out of my mind" either. It had enough rising action and buildup to keep me entertained. The climax of the movie was fairly exciting but yet confusing. There's is a lot of things happening that can catch you off guard. However things make more sense at the end of the movie, (although left me a bit confused). It feels like it is meant to leave you wondering "what really happened?".Overall, I would recommend anyone who is curious about the Dyatlov Pass incident to watch this movie. Even if you aren't familiar with the event, it is both educational and altogether an okay movie.
