The Worst Film Ever
A lot of fun.
The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
When I saw the first "Dr. Dolittle" movie (on free TV, naturally - there was no way I was going to pay to see it!), I thought that would be enough for me. I didn't see part 2. But when the opportunity to see this sequel came to me, I decided to take a chance, seeing that Eddie Murphy (an actor I can't stand) wasn't in it. (As well, I got a free opportunity to see this movie as well.) For a made-for-DVD movie, the production values are pretty good. Not theatrically lavish, but the movie looked pretty good. The movie has some positive messages about being yourself, and the humor is not as crude as some other "family" movies (though there is the occasional questionable element, like one teen being socked in the crotch, and one animal saying he has the "runs".) That's about all I can say that's positive about this movie. The characters (except maybe for the ranch boss and his son) aren't very likable (even the female heroine.) The movie is also stretched out noticeably - there's about enough story for an hour-long drama for TV (with commercials.) It doesn't help that the story is VERY predictable. There is also the problem I had with the first movie - if the animals are so smart to be able to communicate with the Dolittles, then why do they act like stupid animals with the other humans instead of doing what they think? (And why does no one notice their mouth movements when they are speaking to a Dolittle?) I've seen plenty of worse made-for-DVD movies, but I was still seriously bored, and I think older viewers will feel the same. There must have been plenty of young fans of this movie, because as of this date, there have been TWO MORE sequels in this series sent to video stores! Kids might like these movies, but parents, you can surely expose them to better family movies than this! P.S. - Gary Busey must have REALLY needed the money to have contributed to this movie!
To be completely honest with you, This movie is not that bad. OF course it is no where near as good as 1 and 2 but you have to keep in mind that with out Eddie Murphy it was gonna be an uphill battle. At least we have Maya and Mrs. Doolittle, But you know who the focus should have been on, LUCKY. The only times I laughed during this movie were when Lucky was on screen.Norm MAc Donald is very funny. They should have focused their attention on Lucky and worked around him and not Maya. Come on who doesn't like talking dogs.I give it a 5 out of 10 and only because of Lucky. Remember in parts 1 and 2 Lucky (norm)was pretty much the second most important character second only to Dr. Doolittle (Eddie Murphy).
I wanted to finish the Dr. Dolittle sequels and in some way I was interested to see how they would continue the story with Mya Dolittle. Well, this movie turned into a totally unrealistic typical pre-teen comedy that had no originality or interest, even if it was meant for a specific crowd. It was insulting to any human's intelligence, I mean, are we supposed to believe everyone naturally knows how to dance at a party? Or that Mya could sing beautifully, dance wonderfully, and be perfect and not be popular? Mya is now considered a freak at her school since she can talk to the animals. But when her mom realizes she still needs to find herself, she sends Mya to a ranch where Mya changes her name to get a new look and personality. But she ends up falling for the ranch owner's son and they face another ranch of snobs, the ranch owner is about to loose his farm and Mya decides to pull the team together to win the money to keep the ranch.Well, you see where this story is going, and it's a typical one. I was really disappointed with the movie and I wouldn't really recommend it, even for pre-teens, for me, I think it has insults their intelligence, it's just one of those movies, believe me. Stick with Eddie Murphy, he's a professional.2/10
It was an OK movie.I ca'nt see why people are rating it so hi?Maybe they work for the company haha.Do'nt even think it's going to be anything like the first 2.I hope my young grandkids will like it.My wife stopped watching it ,I wanted to but like to see endings. It had a few laughs, but wish id had read the reviews first.I ca'nt see why it's so hard for movie companies to,make sequels.Or they just make it as low budget as possible. Tey don't want you to pirate movies but do they care if you pay good money for garbage? I don't feel sorry for any of the studios. I can also see why murphy did'nt act in this one.Enough with not enough lines already Gary
