Best movie of this year hands down!
Don't listen to the negative reviews
A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.
The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Holly Rowe (Viva Bianca) is a veteran high-class call girl in Sydney, Australia. 17 year old runaway Shay Ryan (Hanna Mangan Lawrence) is new in town trying to turn tricks on the streets. She is dangerously inexperienced and gets into trouble. Holly is trying to retire and run away to Paris. Her partner has an accident and she needs a brunette to team up with. She picks up Shay on the street after she got beaten and robbed. The night job turns murderous and deadly. This is a superior exploitation movie. There is some brutal realistic violence, gritty gutter life, and plenty of nudity. The story is solid. Both of the lead actresses are great. This takes the simple premise and the exploitation genre to make a compelling indie. It's a little slow at times when it should be ramping up the intensity but it never stops being a fascinating watch.
The Plot: Holly Rowe's retiring, kissing her callgirl life goodbye. She just has to get through her last night on the job. Shay Ryan's a teenage runaway, broke and alone. She just has to get through her first night as a hooker. Then fate throws them together on a job that goes horribly wrong and they're trapped on an out-of-control roller coaster ride, through the twilight zone of sex-for-sale. X is a sizzling adults-only thriller about love, chance, escape and the oldest profession experienced by two women, on a night that will change their lives forever. This movie is silly. It's directed like one of those horrible sex flicks on cable TV late at night. Also, it's not called X in the titles. The titles use the name "EXIT" as the title of the film. I guess they thought it was more titillating to call it X...About the only thing I enjoyed was seeing the scenes of Sydney. Haven't been there in a long time....funny tho...I DO remember the hookers, but they were all trannies!!In the end, there's nothing thrilling about this film. It's rather slow and boring to be frank.
X is an Australian film about two prostitutes who witness a drug deal gone wrong. It was an okay movie, not amazing, but definitely not the worst I've ever watched. It had a somewhat predictable storyline, it didn't seem that well written to be honest. It was one of those movies where at the end you sort of feel slightly empty and leaves you questioning, was that it? I'd recommend this movie as a last resort if you have nothing else to watch, I certainly wouldn't be going out of your way to view it as you really will not be missing out on much at all. All in all I give it a 5 out of 10 and I think that is being generous.
Surprising,This was filmed in Calgary. A bit slow at first, great ending! A little unrealistic that she is a call girl and she has a cop in her back pocket trying to runaway with her. But I still loved it.The only complaint I have is the way it ended.I hope there will be a sequel considering the way it ends with the two of them on the beach. Let's say he make her disappear and the sequel continues with her. Does she get off the streets?n Does she move and open her who agency and become a madame? What does she do with that suitcase filled with diamonds? Does he turn out to be a huge jerk and steal them from her.. SO many questions left unanswered!!
