it is finally so absorbing because it plays like a lyrical road odyssey that’s also a detective story.
A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
I honestly don't get the hate for this movie. I went to see it with my friend and we both enjoyed it. It is a very awesome movie the best bit was when echo assembled his ship together and when the kids broke into the military base. Acting was decent and the spacial effects were good. I would definitely recomand it.
OK I know this is a movie that you either love or hate. I do realise that the people who hate it it's mostly because it's like E.T. But I think that's the good thing about it, E.T was such a classic but people now a days don't watch E.T it's quite old I know that I never watched E.T until I saw this at the cinema with my brother. This movie just shows how much E.T is appreciated, this movie though is very different to E.T. So people should stop complaining about it being a copy of it.Earth To Echo is amazing in its own way because I bet many people have watched E.T but I don't think many of the younger people of this generation would have watched it or heard of it. But Earth to Echo is the new modern day version that was created for many of those people who never seen E.TI infant love Earth To Echo I thought it was a great movie I really loved watching it, I'm not so sure about the people in the same cinema as me. I think I might have enjoyed it to much and got a bit excited and chatty!! WHOOPSS but that's how you are when you get to see a great and fun movie, I remember me and my brother talking about this movie for ages and then when it came out I went straight out and bought the DVD. I was so happy that I had got the DVD and I could watch it again and again. Overall this is great movie so you haters who are saying its a copy of E.T, Who cares, it doesn't matter what you think. Most people love this movie and you should definitely watch it.I'm though am still waiting for the sequel!!!!!
Earth to echo is a family aimed film that follows four teenagers who live in a neighbourhood which is going to be flattened to make way for a brand new free-way. Things start to go odd since the construction workers arrived, like mobile phones going crazy and electrical devices malfunctioning. The teenagers suspect that there is more to the 'so called' construction workers and go on an adventure which uncovers more than they would every imagine. So as you already know this is a found footage film. Unfortunately, like most of these films, it failed to actually give the sense of it being 'amateur'. This is mostly due to the over used shaky cam and cinema quality resolution coming from a typical HD Sony camcorder. I think the film would have been much better off if it had been shot conventionally. For the acting I think it was probably average but I think the 'average' performance may have been more to do with the cheesy script that had seemed to have been written by a 12 year old YouTube filmmaker. The story was over predictable and didn't flow. It seemed very rushed; almost like it was written at the last minute. The story felt very empty and was not even close to satisfying. You asked more questions going out of the cinema than in. Examples of this include the only female character 'Emma' (a.k.a Mannequin Girl) who just seemed to randomly enter the story and did not actually do much to make a big contribution. The SFX, though rare, were reasonably good and gave a clear picture of what was happening. The soundtrack was very good but again was very rare during the film. The kids were not characterised that well and failed to show the intentions of both the actors and the characters. In conclusion I think this film is alright for children aged from 8- 12 years old but can be quite boring at times. I think what really done good for this film was the mass marketing it received which got it into the public's attention as I think without the marketing it would have failed miserably.I rate it an okay 5 stars.
My 8 year old watched this on Netflix with her little sister and proclaimed it "One of the BEST movies I've ever seen, Mom!" They then proceeded to nag the rest of us to watch it for the better part of a week. I'm so glad I finally did. I truly don't understand all the negative reviews. This is a fun movie with an excellent story line. Our whole family enjoyed it, and that's saying something. We all of course love the big budget CGI action flicks like what Marvel's been doing, but we also cherish the modern classics like Goonies and ET, which this movie has been heavily compared to. Sure, this is no Spielberg or JJ Abrams, but it reminds me of the movies Spielberg used to make. It has a great story, and even if it is a bit far-fetched, what sci-fi flick isn't?! It's clean, and fun, with some really great effects, and it doesn't rely on nudity or the female character sexualizing everything like a many of today's movies. This kids are simply kids, navigating today's world, but with that timeless feeling we can all relate to. I'm pretty sure everyone who has rated this negatively has forgotten what it was like to be a kid, and how movies made them feel as a kid. When you're a kid, anything is possible, and the adult world is perceived as both frightening and exciting. and isn't it? As for the reviews about the camera and shaky feeling, I thought it was a great cinematic concept. It made the movie really feel like you were with the kids and seeing things from their perspective. And for the people whining that the female character was a purposeful afterthought...really? Does every film have to align with someone's activist agenda? No. Great films are great because they tell a great story--not because they included a social agenda. Kids don't think about making sure their friendship circles include an equal racial and gender mix. They just see their friends, and that cute girl/boy they pass in the hall. The inclusion of Emma was a great addition and she helped the story line along. She learned things from talking to Echo that the boys never would have simply because it's how girls communicate. So I think negative reviewers ought to re-watch and think again, remembering what it was like to be a tween. This film was great, and I would gladly watch it again! And I'm so grateful to have girls who would rather find quality stories like this to watch than the latest agenda-laden film or cheesy children's flick, or even Frozen. Storytelling for family movies is a lost Hollywood art.
