A Major Disappointment
It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.
At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
I have to admit that this film made me nervous because I actually underwent surgery having a device implanted in my brain. I had an experimental stent installed to help prevent a series of strokes caused by blood clots drifting away from an aneurysm. I haven't had any problems since the implant, but I think that if I'd seen this documentary before the brain surgery I would have thought twice. It's been over 4 years now with no problems, which is a good thing.
Do you get fooled by sensationalist "documentaries" where every single point can be easily disproven with readily available unbiased data? Then this movie was practically made for you! Watch and be amazed as the creators make out a handful of women to represent the hundred thousands of Essure recipients! Something that has only been documented 18 times? Clearly hip replacements are the cause of age-related dementia! Definitely not any of the widely accepted science mumbo-jumbo! Unskilled surgeons cause problems? Clearly the machine's fault! How depressing it is that so many people will take obviously biased schlock as truth, no matter how outlandish.
Brilliantly produced documentary about how 4 current-day medical devices have had catastrophic health effects for some patients, and how the FDA and industry have failed to prevent this from happening. One of the best documentaries I've ever seen--coming from one who has seen a lot! I wasn't bored for a minute of this film.
Absolutely brilliant documentary! Really sums up the current state the medical industry is in. I loved every minute of it, really keeps your attention throughout.
