Highly Overrated But Still Good
It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Most direct to video horror movies from the 80's and late 90's knew the formula to follow. 1. Provide a ridiculous plot. 2. Give your characters ridiculous dialogue 3. Provide the audience with a ton of blood and gore (to the comical Evil Dead level). 4. Never take yourself serious. Demon Wind does all of this and more. I remember watching this movie on HBO or maybe Cinemax (they both rotated the same films periodically in the 90's) when I was younger. Even then - the movie made me laugh and appreciate how silly it was. This movie won't scare you, most likely. It will, however, make you laugh at how ridiculous the dialogue, acting, and production value (though I really appreciated the makeup effects) is.
Never seen this because everybody told me this is utterly crap. And it is but the effects are so cheesy that it's one of those so bad that it becomes good.Made in the era that horror was a no go. it shows because CGI could be done on your own computer. What you see here is laughable CGI and gory effects that are also on the edge of becoming funny. The story itself is pure B-movie. This isn't going to win prices but still geeks are huntung this down just to see the gory effects. Low budget over the top horror that wants to be the next Evil Dead sadly it isn't. Gore 1,5/5 Nudity 0,5/5 Effects 0/5 Story 1/5 Comedy 0/5
I must readily agree with most of the comments posted for this film. Incredibly lame, yet the camp appeal just can't be denied. My particular favorites are the gruesome twosome companions and the young female ghost crying out "you're mine!".One question though about the demon wind fog effect - when they saw it coming, what would have happened if they had run to the trees and held on to them for dear life? Would the demon wind had been defeated? Or would the trees also had been transplanted? It would have been interesting to see if this theory had worked. I guess we won't know unless we can enjoy a Demon Wind 2.
I first saw this movie when I was about five and found it very scary. A few years ago I rented it thinking that it was still scary but instead I found myself busting a gut. I cannot believe this movie gave me nightmares for weeks. I think the most awesome part of this movie is when there is a naked woman outside the window but as the guy gets more tempted she turns into this disgusting demon thing. I hate to say it but I am a sucker for bad movies. I would not necessarily call this a bad movie, however as I have seen worse. If you are a horror fan or a deranged redneck from the hills of Arkansas this should really be your calling, all I can say is rent this mother.Cory J. McWuss
