Rocket and his group of cosplaying best friends 'the Rocket's Rockets' must constantly battle assholes and closed-minded society just to do what they love- cosplay as their favorite heroes, together. Real warfare ensues however when a fated encounter involving an oddball mystic and the gift of a mysterious rock set in motion a zombie apocalypse of anime proportions in which all assholes are transformed into zombies. Will Rocket and his best friends be able to embody the heroes they revere, donning their cosplay armor and collectible katanas and traversing a zombie-infested LA in order to save Mom? At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
