Lack of good storyline.
Crappy film
The acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
A man (Sam Page) buys Christmas presents for a living. His old school acquaintance hires him to buy one for his girlfriend. But the man begins to fall for the girl who seems a better fit for him than his friend. In Hallmark land everyone is forgiving and not hurt at all. But if you think about it's a story about betrayal and stealing. Not one of the better Hallmark movies.
This was so close to being excellent, but I just could not get over Sam Page's look. There was just something odd about him. I had a hard time when he was on screen which was way too much. And, making a career out of finding presents...dumb. Tara Holt was hot...she was never in a slinky dress...that's a minus.Overall, good narrative thread, but the occupation of the Tom was just too stupid to believe. Oh...and what was entirely annoying was incessant face timing with the girlfriend....what was the purpose of that...much better if they were in the same room at least. Ugh.
I enjoyed this movie. I really like Sam Page. This is the first movie I've seen of his but I'll look for others now. I did have a hard time warming up to the character of Jenny. She didn't come across has believable has the head of an organization. But overall I'd watch it again.
The only redeeming thing I can think of with this movie is that a male is the lead character, not a female, so when I first saw this advertised, I was glad to see a different POV, hence my 2 rating instead of 1. However, within the first half hour I was just getting a creepy feeling about this one. First of all, I find it absurd that someone would hire a perfect stranger to buy a loved one a gift. Second, if this is feasible, I don't understand how anyone could make a living out of it, and third, I was feeling this character was more of a stalker than anything else. He followed the female character to her house and had a provocative photo of her on his wall with little post it notes about her likes and dislikes. I don't know. Maybe it was just me but I even watched it again, hoping I had an off night, but no, I felt he was a creepy stalker. I like Sam Page but felt there was no chemistry at all with the female lead. I've enjoyed all the new movies so far on both Hallmark channels, but this one, well, not so much.
