I use to really enjoy the killjoy series. While not that particularly good, they are still plenty amusing. I had been looking for this, the fifth in the series, for awhile now, and finally found it on Prime Video. I early sat down to watch it and.....ended up slightly disappointed. Having finally made it to Earth, Killjoy is pretty much broke. Staring in his own show, "Psycho Circus" with Freakshow and Punchy, he has a doctor on the show that basically says he does t exist, even though hes sitting right in front of him, who he promptly executes. After a fake batty boop who replaces the old one after shes left killjoys posse appears on his show, the boys from eebys magical weed shop (which Full Moon fans will temember from the Evil Bong series) who sponsor Killjoys show tell him they want the original Batty back, the three good on a search for her. Meanwhile, Beazelbub, the judge in Hell that Killjoy escaped from in the previous movie, wants revenge and schemes to get him back in his grasps. This entry in the series has a lot more humor in it than the previous four did, and suffered a little from it. Trying to portray Killjoy as a disenfranchised working stiff doesn't really work. One of the best moments in the movie is when Killjoy inyerviews Trent Haaga, who has played Killjoy since the second movie, and plays him in this as well. This movie has its moments, but overall fails. Watch for cameos from characters in other full moon movies

The overall plot takes place a few years after the events of Killjoy Goes to Hell. Killjoy (Trent Haaga) and his posse, consisting of Batty Boop (Victoria De Mare), Freakshow (Tai Chan Ngo) and Punchy (Al Burke), have been living on Earth. But instead of raising hell like they intended, they have been struggling to make it big, namely by producing two Killjoy films, and hosting a show called Psycho Circus. As Killjoy struggles to maintain his life on Earth, Beelzebub (Steve Cardwell) seeks to bring Killjoy back to Hell where he belongs. For a franchise that started off with two bad films, I'm honestly surprised that they keep getting better and better, for this franchise is 3-2 now; three good ones and two bad ones. If you're new and haven't seen any film from this franchise, start with Killjoy 3. You don't have to watch the first two to understand the plot. It's not needed to see the first two, considering that our characters in this film makes those films fictional within their universe. You following me so far? This film has the same type of Monty Python self-aware type humor that Evil Bong High 5 had going for it, as well as a lack of care for continuity, considering this film series takes place within the same universe as the Evil Bong franchise, and the Gingerdead Man franchise. Some things don't make sense, and some chunks of the movie is just advertising to other Full Moon products. But the difference between this and Evil Bong High 5 is the humor in this film is ACTUALLY funny, and because its funny AND intentionally bad in some areas, I can forgive it for not making sense at points. I can forgive some of the lack of continuity between these franchises now because having them in the same universe is actually more fun to watch, but at the same time, can be distracting if you take these franchises too seriously like I do sometimes. And the Full Moon promotion in this film, while there, is less in your face than Evil Bong High 5 was. This film takes more time in promoting Adam and Eve, Shivers and Quivers, Tommy Pistol, and Sony. This film was a blast to watch, and its nice to see that the Kickstarters for this movie paid off well in the end. I hope to see more films like this in the future. Not just Killjoy, but other Full Moon films, except the Evil Bong movies, unless they get a boost like this series did. I can only hope Puppet Master XI: Axis Termination is as good as I'm hoping it to be.

Living on Earth after his escape, the demonic clown and his posse find that their current lives hosting a cable-access TV show has to be halted when one of his former associates wants to avenge his previous encounter and tries to save himself and his friends from the relentless pursuer. This here is yet another of the series' utterly enjoyable cheesy efforts. The fact that this one carries on with the utter insanity and goofiness that was prevalent before once again here, and is literally drowning in the sea of cheesiness of ideas. Using the central concept of now forcing the devil to have to do some dirty work to regain his status in Hell makes for a quite silly notion in it's own right as it's based upon the notion of what's going to happen here in his quest to bring him back as there's more of this typically insane stylings here with the concept of his cable-access show which enables more of that slapstick humor to come through here. From the concept of the show and how they play themselves out in his skits and torments of his guests makes for quite a hilarious time, and along with the his backstage banter with the posse as they not only bemoan the fate of the show and what they want to do, but also manage to refer to their past lives escaping from Hell which is the springboard into his search for them that retains a vast majority of the film here. Not only are those just so funny as well as providing this with some solid action scenes along the way, from the nuking of the city through the news program but there's also the shots of him rallying his fan-club behind him that turns into a firefight with the bounty hunters, the boarding of the rocket ship and the space fight between their ships which manages to be quite a cheesy action sequence that falls in line with all the usually insane moments found here by giving this the kind of sequences that have become prominent in the franchise. The finale on the ship, with the big effects-filled fight and the one-on-one final battle between the two makes for a wholly enjoyable and thrilling finish here that still gets the proper feeling of the franchise filled nicely. These here really make this one quite fun and enjoyable, even if there's a detrimental factor with this one. The biggest issue here is that there's not a whole lot of action in the first half as the focus on their show and the backstage antics which are still fun might not be filled with the kind of scary antics that are found here. This is a fun time but there's no really scary actions featured within it, and it's something to be dealt with here which is also found in the rather heavy dose of cheese that permeates this. It's not a feature that all will appreciate here, and these features are about the only thing wrong here.Rated R: Extreme Graphic Language, Graphic Violence, a comical sex scene and drug use.
