Percy Schmeiser is a farmer from Bruno, Saskatchewan Canada whose Canola fields were contaminated with Monsanto's Round-Up Ready Canola. The New Green Giants
The last ten years have seen a phenomenal explosion in the organic food movement as it has moved from niche market to mainstream. Today, it is the fastest growing segment of the food industry attracting all of the major food corporations. THE NEW GREEN GIANTS looks at a number of these new and old organic corporations and shows how they are managing, or in some cases, failing to live up to the idealistic dreams first espoused by the back-to-the land folk of the late sixties and early seventies. The documentary also looks at some of the bigger questions surrounding organic food. Is it really healthier? Is it truly organic? Is it possible to grow from a mom-and-pop operation to become a huge supplier of major grocery chains? Is it actually sustainable? Is it realistic to think the world can be fed organically?

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

When I first heard about GE crops I was super excited. The scientific breakthroughs required to modify genes was immeasurably futuristic and full of promise. I had no concept of glyphosphate and it's toxic impact on human health. Now the Great State of California has declared it a known carcinogen. How do we fight this corporate giant when this substance is clearly ubiquitous?Be prepared for some shocking revelations about the tactics used to intimidate farmers to either sign up with the Monsanto program or perish. It is revolting what our Government allows to occur to our food supply. I was planning on living a long healthy disease free life but that is in substantial doubt given these greedy players. My deepest sympathies goes to the poor hard working smaller family farmers. Their numbers are being decimated due to this influence of quick profits. I pray to God that this evil is obliterated and soon!

The is a wonderful documentary about how evil and absolutely narrow focused profit driven a corporation can be. This important film shows how destructive to democracy the corporate agenda of Monsatan is. Not just spreading its seed around the country(Canada) but into the US and of course around the world. This provides first hand evidence of Monsanto tyranny on the small farmer and how it isn't just get-big-or-get-out, in the Industrial Farming system, it's do it our way or we'll investigate you, threaten and follow through with law-suits to bankrupt the small farmer and use the the legal system in Canada and the United States to promote the corporation's rights, at the expense of the consumer, the small local farmers, and the world--with such a stance on GMO as ANY level of contamination = your crop is no longer Organic, no longer non-GMO, and no longer even YOURS, it is spreading the disaster of GMO around the world. Thank you to all the Percys out there who stand up to such corporations that are showing through their continued profit-driven actions how harmful they are to society.

An excellent documentary presenting the struggle between the farmers and the corporate giant "Monsanto". Shows the cruel reality of todays world where corporations can deprive the common man of everything he owns based on false claims. Inevitable questions are raised in the mind of the viewer - Who decides that GMOs are safe? Are we willing to sacrifice the good of our children for some profit in the short run? Where will the corporate lust for money and control lead us? Watch this documentary, it's an important educational piece. It will open your eyes on the topic and will show you what the big fuss around GMOs is all about.
