A lot more amusing than I thought it would be.
The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
This is my first review n i know m giving review after 2 years of its release...i would not go into the storyline as all would be already aware of it...but let me talk about performances instead..each n every cast matches the storyline..Poojas Dad n Moms role is so soothing n realistic one would wish all parents be like that. Divyas friends were great support...vineet as doctor was good...and Aju as Kanjyani was hilarious...apt choice of character..coming to the lead roles Nivin as Giri was amazing ...this is not t Nivin we knew from Bangalore Days or Premam...a silent yet solitude character...his controlled liking for Pooja was shown very aptly...now coming to Nazriya this is and will be her movie to remember for...her super cute expressions, her comic timing n antics and her smile would make viewers to fall in love with her...its just not cuteness there is maturity in her thinking n portrayal of Pooja..if one observes how the jolly go lucky pooja was turned into a matured surgeon who's love (which was describingly made to look kiddish ) initially becomes controlled n constrained...from wanting the guy at any cost to willing to sacrifice love at the later stage was just amazing...thanks to this movie and Bangalore days for introducing me to great actors like Nazriya Nivin n DQ,...
Neelakasham peelinirikkum pacchum kannolaa!!:-D(Sorry for typos:-P)I am writing this review after seeing Om Shanti Oshana(OSO) 101th time!!!I really donno what to say about this movie. Its simply fantastic!!As one of the reviewers had said it indeed will remind the viewers the style of Hrishikesh mukherjee Hindi movies like Khubsoorat. The performance of all the actors are amazing Be it Lt.Kanjyani whose comic timing was like Rofl!!or Nazriya who just blows you away with her cute expressions.Indeed she is an adorable actor who suited perfectly to the role of "Divya".The way she thinks how "Giri"would be married in China having kids or how Giri will present himself when she goes for proposal are very comical.Nivin Pauly, though he had limited role, his silent role was more than enough to make the movie lively.Amazing performance.Though the movie is very much centred around Divya,s life ,Giri manages to grab equal attention.I became a die hard fan of him after watching Bangalore days and Premam. My favorite actor in Malayalam industry! This movie which has amazing songs (Mounam chorum neram,Mazha Megham)is truly a must watch!!Though I am a Kannadiga who doesn't know A-Z of Malayalam, after watching this movie I went completely fida over Malayalam movies.Kudos to their way of writing script and direction.Wish Bollywood bring up the comedy in this manner unlike the usual formula of Slapstick comedy:-P
Some films have a new story but it is told in such a clichéd way that it fails to entertain and excite. And some films have a cliché story but it is told in such a refreshing and upbeat way that it entertains and pleases throughout. Ohm Shanti Oshaana belongs to the latter category. It is a lovely Malayalam romantic comedy starring the talented Nazriya Nazim and Nivin Pauly. The story is about Pooja, a sweet Christian tomboy who falls in love with the serious Hindu farmer Giri and how their story unfolds. The film has some brilliant comedic moments, like when Pooja's father tells her not to go out. Suddenly, the background music of the scene in Manichitrathazu starts playing when Nakulan tells Ganga not to go out and Ganga transforms into Nagavalli. Pooja suddenly turns serious and starts repeating the same dialogues "Why can't I go out? I had told you in the morning," with an arched brow. The father suddenly becomes afraid and tells her to go. I love it when a film makes a tribute to my favorite Manichitrathazhu and this scene had me in splits!Another great comedic scene was when Pooja's mother says that Pooja would go to see the groom, rather than the groom coming to see her. Pooja then imagines going to Giri's house for "groom seeing" and in walks Giri all coy and shy like a bride. What fantastic comedy! So understated, yet so effective. I loved it.As I said, Ohm Shanthi Oshaana has a fairly routine story. Girl falls in love with boy of different religion. Boy doesn't reciprocate. Girl can't forget boy and so on and so forth. But the reason that Ohm Shanthi Oshaana turned out so great isn't necessarily the story. It's the way the story was told and the wonderful performances of lead actors and supporting cast. Nazriya Nazim and Nivin Pauly were perfect in their roles and I imagine that if they had been replaced with anyone else, this film would not have turned out so good.I highly recommend this film. It's a cozy, comforting and entertaining film, a perfect choice for a weekend evening to help you de-stress. You will enjoy it.
After a long time a Malayalam movie has come which is worth the watch. The best movie of 2013 and 2014 so far!! .. The movie is awesome for a debut director, and camera techniques and background scores are simply amazing!!.. You would definitely want to watch it twice. The actor Nivin has done a great job and actress Nazriya's performance is outstanding.. it's her cute and innocent expressions which makes you glued to the screen.. and at the end of the movie you can see the entire crowd with a cheerful face.. If you haven't watched it yet.. then spare no time go to nearest theater and watch it before it goes off screen.. The movie is purely entertainment with no violence, no smoking or boozing, no weird romances.. just pure fun love story!! So don't miss it...!! Om Shanthi Oshaana!!
