An investigation of the massacre of 24 men, women and children in Haditha, Iraq allegedly shot by 4 U.S. Marines in retaliation for the death of a U.S. Marine killed by a roadside bomb. The movie follows the story of the Marines of Kilo Company, an Iraqi family, and the insurgents who plant the roadside bomb.

Excellent adaptation.
An Exercise In Nonsense
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
All films are the end product of someone's subjective bias. Who you give voice to, who you leave out, who you demonize, who you valorize - it's all subjective. What is authentic and closer to objectivity is a process where you make ethical, humanist choices. BfH does this by showing more than one side, having the Arab character's speak in their own voice, and suggesting culpability lies not only with individuals, but with political and ideological processes. The absurdity of having young, ill-informed, emotional Americans on the frontline of a battle they do not understand and are not invested in is clearly depicted. War was ever thus. The culpability of the viewer is also raised, in our mindless acceptance of the official view of these events that is heavily manipulated. It also asks us to read again films like 'Black Hawk Down' and question their simplistic propaganda message. The filmmaker's docudrama approach is straightforward and effective. Battle for Haditha is a difficult watch, but perhaps a necessary one to understand how we in the West have ended up in our current messed up times.
I think this was a great movie. I do have some problems. I do believe there were injustices performed in this war. But I feel like this was one of the main objectives of this film. Show how the Americans were a bunch of hot headed vengeful bastards. It became overbearing. I have multiple friends that were in this real war and their recollections do not even come close to this depiction. I understand there were SOP's but do not buy the ones set forth in this film. I've heard about the so called "cover ups" I've also heard real accounts of people being over there. Granted innocents were killed. Every war has that. But not in the way this film depicted.
I just saw this movie and found it very moving. I have spent some time with Iraq veterans and I feel this movie did a very accurate job portraying what they went through.I think it's important to point out that 12 of the actors, including Ruiz, who plays Corporal Ramirez, are themselves Iraq veterans. Here are some quotes from Ramirez: "I was 17 when I was sent to Iraq, during the initial invasion. We pushed all the way up to Tikrit and I ended up being wounded, I almost lost my life. It's crazy, people don't know the type of things that we go through. That's what I like about the film, it shows that." The concept of taking Iraq refugees and ex-marines to make a movie with no script is brilliant. I felt the improvisation from these actors was likely better and more realistic than anything professional actors could have pulled off. I was also impressed with the production values, especially since no US funds were available for a fair and honest portrayal of such events.
I found this a very well made and realistic movie. It is very believable that these young guys who are send to Iraq by their 'criminal' leaders , to put up and save an overwhelming US power and presence in the Middele east are made absolutely crazy by the things that happen in their young lives. The greatest 'power' on earth is sending children of 19,20 years of age to fight their horrible capitalistic ordeal. Some youngsters are there for their 3e time while not being over 20.The loss of civilian live ... the horrible murder-es rampage of the 'land of the free' through this small Arabic nation.... well it all adds to the fact that a lot of folks rather see the US going than Coming.as a movie...seldom have a seen a more disturbingly and convincingly acted , filmed and told war-crime story.excellently made.AND an extremely important movie.A shame though that the real guilty ones...the cowardly guilty ones , stay out of the line of fire.
