When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
It reminds me of Roger Corman's Poe movies where old sets were used over for a short period of time to make a new spinoff like The Terror. All of the characters are leftover from when Frankenstein terrorized the land in the first movie directed by James Whale. A bad time filler was where the villagers and their leaders give the Son of Frankenstein his official unwelcoming ceremony to present his inherited papers. Why not just show an unwelcome atmosphere in the town? We also see the large sets from the first movie, while the maids greet the Frankenstein family with bedrooms that have two beds matched head to head, to guarantee dread. It all comes across as Mel Brooks parody satire instead of a serious film.
The 3rd installment in the Frankenstein series sees Baron Wolf von Frankenstein (Henry's adult son) moving his wife and son out to his father's old castle, much to the dismay of the nosy townspeople. While searching through the castle, Wolf finds Ygor (played by Dracula star, Bela Lugosi) Ygor is friends with the monster and tries to protect him. Soon enough, Wolf decides to bring the monster back to life and see if he can make his father's creation better. This one is weaker than Bride of Frankenstein, but it's an okay way to further the series. This is the last to feature Boris Karloff as the monster. If you love classic monster stories, you may love SON OF FRANKENSTEIN!!!
In the third installment of Universal's Frankenstein series, viewers are introduced to a new scientist in the Frankenstein family, Baron Wolf von Frankenstein, played by Basil Rathbone. Rathbone is very good in his part, living up to expectations of Colin Clive who played Henry Frankenstein, the family and creator of the monster. Son of Frankenstein seemed to tell a story that was awfully similar to the original in quite a few ways, a knock on original material. However, I did find myself enjoying "Son" as a film a bit more than "Bride" with more interesting characters and a nice pace, while "Bride" rushed an ending. This would have been a good way to cap off the Frankenstein franchise for Universal but apparently the business at the box office was too good to stop here.
This is a sequel to The bride of Frankenstein. It is a great movie. The son of Victor Frankenstein. Who is also a scientist reanimates the monster. This is a very scary movie. It as a great story line. It also has great acting. It also has great special effects. It is one of the scariest movies ever made. If this movie does not scary you then no movie will. It is true horror classic. It is very intense. This one of ever few movies that is scary then Frankenstein (1931). It is also one of very few movies that is scarier then The bride of Frankenstein. This movie is a must see. I need more lines and I am running out of things to say.
