best movie i've ever seen.
It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
After Americans and Europeans now it is the turn of Norway to give us a good slasher film..Comparatively Europeans are far far better in making movies in this genre than Americans..High tension, martyrs and frontiers(all french) etc are few perfect examples of well made movies..If you have'nt watched them then please do watch to know the difference..Cold prey aka Fritt vilt proves to be a gift from Norway to all the slasher fans..It is not just about the brutal killings and the bloodshed which in my opinion is the only thing Americans keep in mind while making the movie..I am not panning them here..Yes they do make good slasher movies like Halloween,Texas chainsaw massacre etc to name some but they concentrate more on the nature of murders..They put more energy on designing bloody gory scenes than other aspects..To be honest cold prey has very few killing slasher scenes but still it keeps you interested and engaged..Thanks to the awesome direction, brilliant sound effects, fine screenplay, snowy landscape and a suspenseful climax, which we often don't see in American slasher films..Some scenes are fascinating, eye catching and will hold you completely spellbound..You are bound to experience some unavoidable goosebumps too..Now if you watch it carefully then at the end of the movie some questions will arise inside your mind??? 1)Why was the fractured guy made to memorize the label on the tin while the female protagonist goes to search for rescue equipment?2)Why was the young boy who was running with fear in the beginning of the movie murdered by his own parents??Was it because he was ugly?? Perhaps yes and if no then what was the reason??3)Why was boy's father on a killing spree??What made him a psychopath?4)Where was the boy's mother??Did his father kill her too??These confusions led me to rate it 7 out of 10.Otherwise it deserved higher rating.I might have to watch it again or it's sequel to get my answersNever the less Cold Prey is a fine attempt by Norwegians in slasher genre..Watch it..This thought provoking film won't bore you..
Going by the impressive quotes on the DVD cover for Norwegian horror Cold Prey ('probably the most perfect slasher ever made' wrote one particularly well-known movie website), I was expecting a slick, powerful, and refreshingly original slasher prepared to rewrite the rules in order to constantly surprise and terrify its audience. What I actually got was an admittedly well-made thriller, but one lacking any true level of innovation. In fact, the basic set-up and the manner in which events play out in Cold Prey are as tired and predictable as your average US slasher (it's certainly not 'F***ing Awesome', as the same site also claims), with the usual uninspired jump scares, the same tired death scenes, and the oh-so-clichéd final girl vs the murderous psycho. It's moderately fun, moderately entertaining, and moderately gory, and features at least one scantily clad hottie covered in blood, but it ain't anywhere near as brilliant as you have probably heard.
FRITT VILT, one of my favorite new slasher movies. The plot is simple, nothing special and sort of predictable but that's typical for slasher movies. The movie is very entertaining, it does start a bit slow but it makes up for that. You won't feel bored. The cast is good, too. I especially liked Jannicke (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal), she is such a strong and smart character. The movie is very suspenseful despite the fact that it's kinda predictable. I loved the setting and the atmosphere. Some parts are really creepy, the killer is really creepy too in my opinion.I enjoyed this movie very much. It's definitely worth watching! 8/10
Fritt Vilt my first Norwagian movie watched it with subtitles. Though it was not an English movie it had so many repeat screenplay that we (horror / thriller lovers) had experienced. For instance to tell it had the hotel set similar to 'the shinning' The killer was a Jason type I know what u did psychopath but fails to say what is exactly wrong with him to kill every one.Since the movie has three parts the first one was like an intro so don't expect so many spine chills all are ultimately guessable ones. But was a worth watch with its second part back to back.I would give 6 on 10
