The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

A couple of nice young people, including a couple of sexy girls, are inadvertently stranded in rural Ireland. Two of them, a man and a young lady, explore what appears to be an abandoned house. A weirdo appears and demands that they come with him. The handsome young English fellow objects. El Freako raises a gun and shoots him bloodily through the neck. The handful of tourists is captured and brought to a family of mutants with strange faces. I woke up briefly for a while to watch one of the gargoyles beat a sobbing girl to death with a hub cap, deliberately and graphically slamming her face into hamburger before the coup de grace. She was covered with blood by then. There were multiple shots of her sister watching the murder through a veil of utter terror. If this sort of thing appeals to you, you should definitely watch it. To me it's a symptom of our decadence. The best interpretation I can lend this pernicious, malignant piece of poison is that the several elements of the production -- the cast and crew -- thought they might wangle a paid, tax-free vacation in Ireland out of it. They didn't really MEAN to debase our taste further. In a bit of sublime irony, the cuss words ("s***" and f*** and so on) are clipped out, while the most heinous violent acts are left intact. We don't mind our children being desensitized to homicide but, for the sake of God, let's not teach them that it's permissible to curse.

I checked here at IMDb before watching this film and I saw it had a 5 stars rating. So I watched it thinking it was gonna be a streaming pile. I'm glad to say this movie is great. If the director reads this then I congratulate you my friend.I'll explain.Plague town has the classic "people goes to weird village on vacation and ends up being attacked by creepy villagers" script, but it's so well executed that the story becomes unique. It's not only that the film has a very low budget but also the inexperience of the director comes to evidence most of all in the action scenes or in many of the deaths but that's no problem since the talent of the guy succeeds over those limitations. It's the first time I'm watching a film and it reminds me of the original The evil dead. that's right! many many many many films have tried to be like the evil dead and failed. I think this one succeeds because it achieves the exact same goal: You can see the lack of budget or experience and yet you enjoy the film. It's a matter of having talent an take your picture seriously. Just like Sam Raimi did in his first film. I've seen hundreds of films that put a bunch of retarded teenagers and some weird being/s trying to kill them just because The Evildead did so. But they don't take it seriously, they think that making it stupid, funny and gory is a sure path to succeed in horror. And that's a fail since to achieve that you have to be not only a master of horror but also a master of comedy. So, anyway, I congratulate David Gregory for his movie and I hope he continues making films. He is not an excellent director but goes in the right path to be one!

Missing the bus proved disastrous for the Polish immigrant in the British film Mum & Dad, and now in this film, that bus is missed again with disastrous consequences in Ireland. We get to spend time with a totally dysfunctional American family that comes into contact with some very functional children. Only Molly (Josslyn DeCrosta) sees something strange. Everyone else is in denial. This is a very dark film with minimal soundtrack and minimal story. The story is just to set up the horror that is to come.Molly and her sister Jessica (Erica Rhodes) soon put aside their differences in an effort to survive. The rest have all fallen victim to the mutants. The whole motivation of the town rolls out piece by piece as the murderous children go about their gory business. The makeup was excellent and the gore was moderate, but effective.Director David Gregory has a long list of documentary shorts. Probably the stuff that is extras on DVDs. This is his first feature film, and one looks for more in the future.

Anyone who knows horror knows that this misunderstood genre has seen much better days. The 90's was by far the worst period ever, although our current decade hasn't been THAT much better. Most people are limited to the mainstream, the first 4 Saw's were good, and our pal. Rob Zombie has made quite an impact, but The truth is, nowadays, independent horror is the only place to find true quality. I'm not talking about Dimension Extreme independent, I'm talking about Subrosa independent, I'm talking about Troma independent, yeah, B-movies. Some are worthless, some are awesome, but once in awhile, even in this day in time, one might stumble across a rare work of art, just waiting to be discovered. Enter Plague Town.About a family, none of which seem to enjoy each others company, vacationing in the depths of Ireland. They have some British guy with them, apparently to keep the more ornery daughter quiet, which doesn't work, but it was a nice thought nonetheless. The bickering family, along with British guy, wonder around just long enough to miss the bus back, but is eventually offered help by a harmless, yet peculiar stranger, even though they didn't feel they needed it, although, it's not dark yet , now is it?There are some disturbing things that come out at night around these parts, dangerous things with bad intentions that aren't necessarily looking to kill, but what this family doesn't realize, there are some scenario's far worse than death.I am Impressed beyond words, Plague Town is proof that The Horror genre is alive and well, and I was starting to worry, but never mind, David Gregory is on it. Eli Roth could learn a thing or two from this guy. Certain things, as insignificant as they may seem, really brings out the horror in the horror. Everything about Plague Town looks dark and desolate, not a lot of color. Plague Town is not over-scored, which is also a plus. Very little character development, as strange as that may seem, makes for quality horror, the less you know the better, in this genre mystery equals success. The vibe of Plague Town reminds me of obscure horror gems of the 70's, like Messiah Of Evil and Bruial Ground, as if it just ended up with the pure essence of horror by accident. We're looking at quality from all directions, from the simple, yet horrifying plot, to the subtle, yet haunting score, to the brutality and hopelessness, to that adorable, worried-looking chick. They got it all right. Plague Town is the horror masterpiece of the decade. 8/10
