Slow pace in the most part of the movie.
Powerful
Nice effects though.
It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
The Seasoning House is one of the most original movies I've watched in a long time.In these times it's really rare to see a horror/thriller movie with a solid acting, strong directing and good characters development. Not to forget the moving story that actually makes you care about the characters. And The Seasoning House succeed in doing that. When I watched this movie I didn't have much in mind to look forward, but fortunately, The Seasoning House exceeded my expectations.I have to warn you, this movie is harsh, intense and really dark. With some sad and shocking scenes. It's not for everyone to watch.Definitely worth a watch!
I had to stop in the middle, when she kills the soldier and the hunting starts. I just could not handle the fact if they catch her what is going to happen... I went to video sites and watched interviews with the actresses. I had to know they are just acting and they are safe now... It may sound foolish but yeah this movie made a huge impression to me. I was scared. I thought it only will be a horror that i can sign as "watched" and forget about it. But i will never forget it. Very sad that this whole story based on true events. And they made a great decision not to entirely close the movie at the end. Couse it is still happening in the world we must not forget about it. There is no happy ending for this movie. I am still shaking when i think back to this movie, scenes.... It describes what is my opinion.
Didn't expect this. Truly grim, yet interesting way to dramatise the abuse.Early on there is a shocking murder, and some truly awful violence follows. Far more harrowing than A Serbian Film, because these aren't cartoon characters. The big guy playing the rapist/killer of the girl with the broken pelvis is as close physically as you can get to a monster without makeup and special effects. It turns into a chase film, which is very clever in the confined spaces but a bit unlikely out in the open. The acting is really good throughout, and the pace picks up in the second half.Wasn't sure about the rotting corpses in the woods - dumping ground for dead girls from the house?
Set in the Balkans in 1996 during war. Goran rounds up women, keeps the few he likes for his house of prostitution, and kills the rest. Goran selected the deaf-mute Angel to serve as housekeeper of sorts in the whore house. Goran had Angel's mother shot to death before her eyes.Viktor runs the whore house and treats Angel less savagely than he treats the involuntary prostitutes. Angel is slim enough to navigate the air vents. She uses this to do the prostitutes small favors, like giving a piece of chocolate. When Goran returns, one of his soldiers brutally uses one of Angel's friends. He suffocates her while he reaches climax. Angel witnesses this, and stabs the rapist multiple times. She barely escapes through the air vents. The rest of the soldiers decide to find her. Will Angel escape? Will there be any justice for the rapist military criminals? -----Scores-----Cinematography: 6/10 Good, though sometimes more than a bit out of focus. There was a tendency to show fog way too much. Outdoors, sure. Indoors? That is harder to believe.Sound: 4/10 Sometimes fine. Often the conversation levels are very low, while the dramatic incidental music is off-the-charts loud.Acting: 6/10 Sean Pertwee and Rosie Day were fine, and Kevin Howarth was not bad. The rest of the cast was poor.Screenplay: 6/10 Slow and methodical, and fairly convincing in its description of real horror in large quantities. However, I thought it gave in too often to portraying people as caricatures rather than more rounded individuals. I liked the last scene with Angel and Goran, though I thought there was not enough retribution.
