Young urban couple Ed and Sarah are set to begin a new life when they move from London into an isolated borders Scottish farmhouse. After falling in love with the 19th century Castle Farm and seeing its potential as a fixer-upper they are anxious to get started on the renovations. In bed on their first night Sarah thinks she can hear noises in the darkness but Ed is disbelieving saying it’s her imagination playing tricks. Persisting in her fear they are not alone in the house, she forces Ed to investigate. When he doesn’t return after a scarily long period, she goes downstairs to investigate only to be confronted by a welcoming committee of masked intruders. As she desperately searches for Ed, a terrifying game of cat and mouse ensues with the mysterious assailants. But what do they want and what horrors do they have planned for the two newcomers?

I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
Don't listen to the negative reviews
It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.
One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
I really never write reviews on here, I can't actually remember if I even have before but this film has such a low score and some quite shocking reviews and I don't understand why. Yeah, I get that the plot isn't complex and we've seen home invasion horrors before that follow a similar structure, but his film executes it's story very well. From them moving into the house, we get to the story straight away, there's no faffing about. I was on edge throughout the bulk of the movie and felt myself really rooting for the characters as it was brilliantly acted by both of the leads. It's simple, suspenseful and I would definitely recommend it to horror fans and would probably watch it again at some point. I was really pleasantly surprised!
As an American, I can only wonder what the point was? Having been to the U.K. many times, including Scotland, it all seems pretty far fetched. Can't imagine any Scots being dumb enough to do something this awful, nor can I imagine the couple that was terrorized not going to the police & having the whole gang arrested. It'd be pretty easy to catch them all, as they are now hanging out at the house now owned by the English couple...not to mention the guy with the cut up face (What about the guy she beat the crap out of in the shed? Did he even live? How would the criminals explain that?) and all the pig masks...surely someone would remember a bunch of those being sold to some local idiots. Not a horrible movie, acting was great & it was suspenseful. One more thing...and I know some will hate this, but if some men (in pig masks, no less!) broke into my house like that...it would be over quick, because I would shoot them. I'm an American...like it or not, we have guns.
Nothing and I mean nothing is good about this film. From start to finish this is bad just awful. The acting is atrocious, the action or fight scenes are less believable then wwf fighting. And to put the cherry on the crap pie. The ending makes absolutely no sense. They bought the house do the kidnappers think they're just gonna go oh well they don't want us there let's just abandon are 100k+ home and pretend we didn't buy it. And we'll never tell any police at all, within one day these capters would be arrested and put in prison easily. Do not waste your time.
It's Sarah and Ed's first night in their new home in the Scottish countryside. Coming from the City they had a lot of money to invest in a property that the people from the surrounding area could not afford themselves. It's a beautiful setting and the movie portrays an air of the supernatural but that's a red herring. It's actually a home invasion type movie. The two main characters are absolutely awful from the start. Sarah is the most irritating character I think I have ever come across! The relationship between Sarah and Ed doesn't feel believable at all, there's no chemistry, no closeness that you would expect to see in a couple moving into a new home. Sarah is a nagging, selfish and irritating woman, if I was Ed I would have let her move to Scotland by herself. As they go to bed on their first night Sarah is unnerved and hears noises. She pesters poor Ed to death and ends up outside where they find a random pig. After going back in the house Sarah hears yet more noises and again nags Ed to death to go investigate. The poor man does and doesn't come back. So then she goes looking for him. What follows is one of the most intense cat and mouse games ever. It's such as shame that the two main characters are so badly written because the baddies and the stalking going on is/are brilliant. I couldn't bear to watch half the time.I liked the ending, you couldn't have predicted it.
