Powerful
Captivating movie !
The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
A nice sentimental comedy about a rich kid named Tommy who will do anything to keep his father's factory in the family after his father does. Chris Farley and David Spade are a dynamic duo who play off each other extremely well you'd think they were real life brothers. The jokes are in the style of 90s SNL skits where the situations are over the top, simple and have a big pay off leaving your stomach hurting from laughing so hard. Some highlights are when they are going to be pulled over by the police, pretend bees are stinging them and get off scott free or when they pretend to be flight attendants to get a free lift to Chicago.Rob Lowe and Bo Duke are quite the team themselves as gold digging villains willing to do anything to make a quick buck. At first their relationship is a little gross until you found out they aren't really related. The music is a wonderful reminder of the time period and act as a character itself to the scene present. The story flows naturally without ever feeling slow or full and the jokes are refreshing to hear instead of today's where it nearly all vulgar. While black sheep will be my favorite, this feels like a great alternative sequel and delivers the goods. See it today.
A fun (but only occasionally funny), dumb comedy. The plot is rather simple and unspectacular and the acting is serviceable. Chris Farley is really the only reason to see this movie, due to various comedic episodes peppered throughout the run time. He's able to elevate the material somewhat on his charm and charisma, even bringing a little heart/pathos to the role. You can't really say that for the rest of the movie, though, because it's filled with clichés, plot holes, lapses in logic and implausibilities. Still, the strong central performance by Farley, who proves himself quite adept at physical comedy, is reason enough to see it at least once.
There are only so many iconic funny films out there and this is one of them. People may think the film is stupid and has no message but I think as long as you can watch it over and over again and still think it's funny then it should be in the history books and worthy of my gratitude. How many films do you watch once and never watch again!!!! This is a tribute to Chris Farley and even Black sheep was brilliant but not as good, but I can still watch it over and over and be in stitches. David spade is absolutely brilliant also as is a very funny actor and comedian. My hat off to them both.RIP Chris Farley.
Granted, I'm an avid Spade and Farley fan...but I cherish this movie. Light-hearted, slapstick humor, and the 90's Belushi and Ackroyd...how can you lose? It's not meant to be taken seriously, but it's unexpectedly heartwarming and hilarious to witness Spade and Farley as they were in real life...best friends and comrades. The chemistry is undeniable, and in addition to the wonderful duo are Rob Lowe, Brian Dennehy, Bo Derek, and Dan Ackroyd himself. If you love the Spade and Farley you've seen on Saturday Night Live, you'll appreciate this movie. I've seen it a million and one times, and it never gets old. It remains a classic in my house.
