Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
I'm a little surprised with the 6/10 rating on IMDb. This might not be the best movie ever but it sure is pretty good. It's a shame TI hasn't made more movies, he was really good in this one. The only aspect of this movie that I would have liked to seen more of, is the skating. The plot was entertaining and had enough of a story line to keep your attention. The acting was fine, I've seen much, much worse. The music was pretty good. There are some songs from the soundtrack that I still listen to.I would have been interested in a sequel to see where they are 3-4 years later.
ATL a movie with heart. It did not try to be over the top. It told a deep story about family bonds and love. Drug dealing and crime where shown in their true light. One part that stuck with me was seeing the young brother selling on a corner then he gets rolled by older dealers for his drugs. Perfect song was playing in the background. Great bit of directing there. T.I. and the actor from Forrest Gump have chemistry. I felt that uncle and nephew bond. I liked seeing a movie about life in a tough neighborhood that was about relationships. It wasn't a story about drug dealers only looking to make money. This was real life beautifully told.
--This movie was buried in a mountain of other crap African-American, growing up poor movies, but its story line, cinematography, and direction is the stuff that made Spielberg, Stephen King and so many other great storytellers the giants that they are now. The music is the first thing you notice when you watch this movie. It's very street but very appropriate which makes the movie seems like every other growing pains movie but it IS NOT. The character development is very rich throughout the movie. The characters are very real and you can tell that the writer pulled out a piece of their heart to create this. Anyone who has grown up in a middle or lower middle class family and has strived to achieve more in their life will appreciate this film despite what color your skin is or where you are from. This is one of those movies that is just so sorely over looked and underrated because of the genre it is in. It's about family, it's about friendship, and it's about finding out who you really are by sticking to your principles. If you're looking for a movie that can give you faith back in human beings look no further.~k Honolulu, Hawaii
I rather enjoyed this movie. The performances were decent and the characters were likable there was a good story line and well developed characters. The movie had a positive message with out being over bearing. As for the characters, Laura London is really cute, hopefully she'll get a chance to showcase her talents in the future. T.I. maybe the next rapper that makes the jump from music to movies. Jason Weaver has come a long way since playing little Michael Jackson. This movie is better some of its contemporaries and deserves a look. The low rating is unfair so check it out and see for yourself and if you think is good then vote for it.
