Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
Memorable, crazy movie
Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
All that we are seeing on the screen is happening with real people, real action sequences in the background, forcing the eye to watch as if we were there.
(3%) The ONLY upside to this awful movie is that big Steve paid off a few bills, besides that this really couldn't be much worse. Why can't the makers of these low budget action movies just keep things simple and make a fun watchable little time passer, is it really too much to ask? Seagal is his usual lazy self, and like many of his films these days his dialogue is clearly re-dubbed by someone else, it's all a little tragic really. Vinnie Jones tries, but just like every other "character" he's fighting a losing battle with a beyond terrible script/plot, appalling editing and lousy direction. The movie is awful, pure and simple, and it isn't even so bad it's almost good, just plain old boring cheapo garbage that belongs in a bank vault to be forgotten about forever.
I will say this, apart from Under Siege and one or two other exceptions I am not a fan at all of Steven Seagal or of his films. Out for a Kill is probably Seagal's worst film, but Submerged comes very close to topping it. Here in Submerged there is everything that I really hate about most of Seagal's films. While the locations are good, the camera work and editing itself are very shoddy, especially in the poorly-choreographed fight sequences. The plot in concept is derivative and the telling and structure of it is very incoherent, while the writing is lousy, the direction from Anthony Hickox in the worst directing job of his career is very poor, the pace is pedestrian making the slower scenes really tedious and there are some distracting and unforgivable errors such as having goats and mountains in Uganda. The acting is dreadful, not just from a very unkempt Seagal whose performance is very lazy but from the entire cast. Vinnie Jones is the only asset of Submerged that I would come close to calling a bright spot. Overall, a really bad film and one of Seagal's worst. 1/10 Bethany Cox
Do you really think that we have GOATS in Uruguay, or JUNGLES, or TERRORISTS, or even natives????? This movie is utterly insulting for my country. The writers of this movie didn't even bother in looking where Uruguay was. For all of you who doesn't, it's located between Brazil and Argentina. This movie was forbidden in my country because it shows something ENTIRELY DIFFERENT than realityWe don't have GOATS, we have COWS, we don't have JUNGLES, we have MEADOWS, we don't have TERRORIST or DICTATORS or Nazis or anything like that, in fact, we are the most DEMOCRAT country in Latin America. We don't even have NATIVES, the ENTIRE population are Europeans or descendants of Europeans. And our costumes are not as shown in this awful movie (as if we were Peruvians or Bolivians).
This was an awful disappointment for this director. Hickox has made some really good B Movie fantasy flix. This was a disappointment for many British television regulars who well deserved the chance to appear in a film and got under served by terrible lighting, editing and scripting. This was a disappointment for Vinnie Jones - brilliant if the director and scriptwriter understands his place in UK iconography and uses him as such (check out Lock, Stock... and Mean Machine) - but he needs to be used right. This was not, however, a disappointment for Seagal. He has always been poor beyond belief and he just gets worse and worse as his self-indulgent self-belief gets bigger and more arrogant. He doesn't act at all and he's out of shape. How can he have the shame to accept a paycheck for top billing and then not even perform to his own extremely limited standards???
