On a planet in a distant galaxy, a power hungry Leprechaun, holds a beautiful alien princess hostage in order to marry her for her royal title. With her title and his beloved gold, he'll be able to rule the universe. While making his maniacal plans, what he doesn't count on is an invading platoon of marines from Earth, to save the princess and foil his plans. An accomplished trickster, the Leprechaun stows himself away on the orbiting spaceship and wreaks havoc on the crew in an attempt to recapture his bride.

Good story, Not enough for a whole film
I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
This is the worst film I've reviewed for Slasher Month. It's one of the dumbest movies I've seen in a long time. When hearing about the mere mention of the title, I was at least eager to find out how the leprechaun would even get into space. It turns out we never find out! The movie literally opens with him already in space with his space bride. I'd think that would be something important to mention. There's this one scene where it looks like a guy is trying to help the leprechaun but he's trying to trick him and it fails. Later, he does the same thing with another guy and it's the exact same thing! I'm just amazed at how stupid this movie can get. There's this one strange cyborg that's transformed into a giant spider. At the film's climax, the leprechaun turns into a giant. All of this really happened. I thought they'd at least show the leprechaun on other planets but instead he's just stranded on a single spaceship. Does this take place in the future or something? How does this fit in with the other movies? The leprechaun gets blown up twice and somehow reforms. He blows up again at the end but his hand is still alive so I guess he's still not quite dead. Oh, and a woman becomes topless for no reason whatsoever other than that it's her people's way of showing a death sentence. This film is just idiotic bit after idiotic bit and I could go on all day about how stupid everything is. It seems like they just took random pieces of paper with plot points written on them and shot them out of a cannon to collect them to make some kind of story. The only upside is that it is the first slasher movie I've seen where the villain uses a gun. Even then, he doesn't kill anyone with it. *
This is a l lot better then you probably think it is. 3.4 is just underrating it. The first Leprechaun movie is better. Leprechaun 2 is better. Leprechaun 3 is also better. The sixth Leprechaun movie Leprechaun back 2 t.h.a hood is also better. But still this is a great movie. It is very scary. It has great acting. It also has a great story line. It also great special effects. This movie is scarier then A nightmare on elm street. It not easy to be scarier then A nightmare on elm street. Not the original 1984 version any way. This a very scary movie. Any one who knows a good horror movie will like it. This movie is a must see. Brent Jamer is a great actor.
If you read my review of "Leprechaun", "Leprechaun 2", and "Leprechaun 3" and wondered if Warwick Davies survived then welcome to your answer .. No, he died in the first, second and third film . But Yes, he came back this time in Space!Very similar to the other Leprechaun films but with the addition of Spaceships and Laser guns. Don't worry, the acting is still bad, the story is still irrelevant, the action is still embarrassing If you did read my other reviews you'll get what I'm saying here. The Leprechaun convinces a space bint (Princess Zarina of the Dominian Republic) to follow him for marriage, she is a spoiled princess of a wealthy space family and kind of sees the benefit in attaining gold and wealth via greed - thus she is willing to listen and follow the Leprechaun. A rag tag bunch of space merc's are sent to recover and rescue her on behalf of a Scientist who you only ever see via Video link (I'll come onto him later). The space merc's are very much in the guise of the marines in the "Aliens" film but obviously a lot more camp and much more useless. They are convinced by the scientist that the Space Princess is important because her DNA is special so ultimately they take him serious and act out the contract as best as they can - until they are scared anyway. Some of the merc's live, some of the merc's die. I can't recall exactly how it happened but the merc's do recover the Space princess which leads the Leprechaun to hunt her down. Worried that the Leprechaun's power is too much the merc's attempt to cancel the contract only to be put back in line by the scientist who actually reveals himself. Much like "The Wizard of Oz" the scientist was just hiding behind a curtain (well a video screen) and pulling the strings. The scientist is not quite what the crew expected, from the waist down he is a robot. Now, if you have been wondering who the Scientist is because you recognise the voice let me take this opportunity to put you out of your misery, the robo- scientist is none other than Lieutenant Hubert Gruber (Guy Siner) from the TV series "Allo Allo". Yes that's right, Col Gruber is back, in space, and he's even got his "little tank" with him - albeit his tank is his robotic lower half. Leprechaun and Scientist eventually meet, they exchange insults and then one of them is injected with random space princess DNA which has been mixed with a spider and a scorpion. The film builds up to a finally which will see the Leprechaun fight all the good people of the spaceship. However, will he survive? Will he get his revenge, will he live beyond his revenge, and will somebody actually make another Leprechaun film?? Check back for my review of "Leprechaun 5 - Leprechaun in da Hood" to find out.
Leprechaun was a masterpiece that had me splitting my sides from start to finish. It had countless laugh out loud moments, and became a firm favourite for watching with my friends. I found the next two Leprechaun films disappointing, and was almost ready for giving up on the franchise, when I watched Leprechaun 4 - in Space. The name alone was crazy enough to grab my interest, and this film satisfied my craving for bad (so bad it's good) cinema on every level. This film didn't let up, every bizarre scene is crafted to perfection to induce laughter and thoughts of 'did that really just happen?'.There are a lot of very negative reviews for this film, and in my opinion the rating should not be so low. Leprechaun 4 is not a film that is supposed to be taken seriously. I think that many of the people that gave negative reviews missed the point. I do have to admit that Leprechaun 4 may not be to everyones tastes, so if you are looking for a genuinely scary film, or a film that makes sense, then this is not for you.If you enjoyed the first film and like laughing at ridiculously bad films, then you are in for a treat with Leprechaun 4!
