Such a frustrating disappointment
This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
Shoddy and tasteless. To all those people who are rightly curious to watch the sequel of "Joy Ride", just don't do it, if I may suggest. Very cheaply made, rare intriguing scenes, the acting is poor and stunt scenes are catastrophically bad. This is the perfect example of a forced sequel. Overall you can't just get into it because of the pumped up characters themselves. Typical situation were apparently tough rocking guys change attitude after messing up and weeping silly girls becoming invincible and unrealistically able to fight monsters. And this might be pleasant when the story takes you on their side, but it just doesn't happen. You don't get involved at all. Just enjoy the first movie and don't go further.
Bobby and Melissa are on a road trip to Las Vegas with Melissa's sister, Kayla, and her "boyfriend", Nik, who she met online. Unfortunately, their car breaks down and when they come across a seemingly abandoned house, they decide to "borrow" a car they find in the garage. What they don't know is that the house wasn't abandoned and the car belongs to a trucker who goes by the name of Rusty Nail. Rusty Nail contacts Melissa after she leaves her number at the house, and to say that Rusty Nail isn't happy that they took his car would be an understatement. A dangerous game of cat-and-mouse ensues, and Rusty Nail will stop at nothing to take more than what he thinks he deserves.Joy Ride 2 is not too bad of a follow up to the enjoyable Joy Ride. I mean it's obviously not the best movie you'll see but it's definitely not the worst one either. It's really nothing more than an average road trip slasher film that is quite high in gore and low on plot and story. But then again you don't watch a movie like this for a riveting storyline. Here, the character of Rusty Nail has went from a seemingly lonely trucker who was just pranked (as in Joy Ride) to now what seems to be a serial killer who just kills for the pleasure of it. A Jason Voorhees of the highway if you like, and I think that's the main reason why the movie's not as good....it's gone down the stereotypical slasher path with your usual stereotypical characters. If you don't mind the usual cliché slasher movie then you will probably quite enjoy Joy Ride 2. Watchable but nothing to get too excited over.
"Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead" is the sequel of Joy Ride and in this movie we have about the same story as in the first one except that in this one we have a woman who returns from the bachelor party of her sister and her car breaks down. Then she finds a house and they take (with her date) the car that was parked near there, but after some time the understand that the owner of it, is the sadistic truck driver Rusty Nail and now they have to run for their lives.I liked this movie but not as much as I liked the first one. I believe that this movie was lower because of the story and because of the cast. I also believe that in comparison with the first movie, this one was a bad copy of the first. Although there were some moments in which it had some suspense but it was not enough to make it a good movie.
The second installment in the series. This time a quartet of young people break into Rusty Nails house and steal his Chevelle. This dark comedy isn't as good as the first Joy Ride film, but still amuzing. This time we find out more about Rusty Nail. He is a diverse trucker. We first see him pulling a 53' dry van,but then we see him hook up to a livestock trailer at the end of the film. Which means he is a valuable driver in the trucking world. We also learn that if ya give something to him,he usually wants to keep it. Its a fascinating thing to see our quartet in the sweltering Utah heat and then walk into a barn where we can see there breath. And yes Nic. Us truck drivers a jacked up speed freaks that can only get a date with a disease ridden hooker.Mark Gibbons drives the Peterbuilt 18 wheeler.Nicki Aycox drives the same Peterbuilt big truck.Mark Gibbons and Nicki Aycox are permanent A List actor.Nicki Aycox,Laura Jorden, and Krystal Vrbe are hot!!erldwgstruckermovies.com
