Simply A Masterpiece
It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
This is not the best teen movie or even teen musical, but it is still worth a look (or listen, rather) due to its catchy and original music. It is a reminder of what the High School Musical franchise has done for teen musicals. However, while HSM's choreography was more naturalistic, this one's over-produced.The draw for teen girls will almost certainly be the Jonas Brothers, who are surprisingly okay film actors. While they do not carry the film alone on their shoulders, they do inject the extra element of fun that will be missing if they weren't in it.The acting was for the most part what is expected from a Disney teen pop movie - bubbly but without much needed from the actors. The draw is and always will be the music and the dancing. Unless you're a teen, you won't care much for the characters as they go through the usual teen 'crises'. The music is upbeat, the songs are original and catchy, and the dance choreography acceptable (although the guys seem to have all the good moves; the girls do little other than shake their heads, chests and hips), which is what are more important here anyway. I have a preteen god-daughter, and even she is more excited by the music and dancing than in the story. It may not rank as high as High School Musical, but unless you're willing to watch that again, this is still a good enough movie for the kids to watch. Even if they don't appreciate the story, it may still bring out whatever musical instincts are in them.
Well it was cute, sure... But it was like they were doing a mix of High School Musical and the first Camp Rock... That was all I could think of the entire time. What happen? The first Camp Rock was great, I really enjoyed it, because it was like real life, it wasn't full of song and dance routines... This they made a big time musical. Everything was group singing. She starts the song and everyone joins in. Doing all the motions and singing right along with her. Not quite what I was expecting after the first one.I am but a teenager, so maybe it is attractive to younger kids, but it wasn't so much to me...
I thought this movie was alright. It just seemed different like does not connect to the first Camp Rock at all. Overall, I did not get the same emotional feeling as I had in the first one which was sort of a disappointment. My Problems with the movie:Too many songs- Reminds me of the cheesiness of what Disney brings. Just made it seem like another clichéd film. I was also irritated when they are just talking then they randomly dance. Im disappointed because they made the elements in the second film so different which just does not connect to the first one at all.Too many holes not filled in- I felt they did not thoroughly explain parts with Nate and the bracelet,HARDLY any character development in the story. Character- Okay, the new Mitchie?? What in the world happened to her? Shy girl to bossy girl? I also do not like Demi's new hair and she wears too much makeup. She needs to go back to her old look. And man I felt like Joe Jonas in the movie was TOO needy for some reason. And last thing there was no character development in the other characters which what I was looking forward to. They hardly got a part! Now that Im done with the negatives. Here are the pros.More Elements- I like how they added in a lot more comedy in it. Like the randomness of Kevin Jonas. HUGE comic relief. His time with the kids was also the most entertaining part. Also the interaction with Joe and Nick about him being an "idiot" always put a smile on my face. I also loved the romantic scene with Demi and Joe at the ending. :) It was sweet.Songs- Even though there were TOO much songs, some of them I found enjoyable to hear. They were catchy also!I decided to rate this 5/10 because it was not the best and also not the worst.
Disney Channel hit back with a sequel to the musical Camp Rock with Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. The movie takes place a year after Camp Rock and is about Mitchie who returns to said place with her friends to find out that there's a new camp open across the lake called Camp Star. As you may guess, they both soon start to get in a little competition and decide to settle the score once and for all in a final jam X-Factor style, performing in front of millions of viewers live on television and whoever gets the most votes win. Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam is actually a very pleasant surprise as it's an improvement from the first one on everything and it's actually a little enjoyable. The plot might be just as cheesy and just as bad as Camp Rock and a little stretched but it's a Disney Channel musical movie so if you expected different, you will be disappointed. The sequel's story is much better and improved and actually felt like a proper movie and not a bunch of people singing songs randomly. Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam has the original cast from Camp Rock and they're much better. Demi Lovato, who plays Mitchie, can be bad sometimes but she did have her moments and the same can be said for The Jonas Brothers, who have also improved a lot.The characters are better written and this time round, the other two brothers from The Jonas Brothers actually have a part in the movie whereas in Camp Rock, they were hardly in it or hardly got involved in any part of the movie. Mitchie and the other characters are more tolerable this time round but Tess the 'diva' and the characters from Camp Star are too irritating. The script and the writing has quite a few weak moments but there were a couple of good scenes. Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam not only has a better story but it also has better songs and dances and there are some songs that are actually catchy (although there is one song that sounds way too familiar to Jason Mraz's I'm Yours which is sang by one of the Jonas Brothers). The singing has improved from the first movie and The Jonas Brothers sound a little better this time but I still think that Demi Lovato can't sing properly. She screams and shouts her lines when she sings. It's not bad in the first minute of the song but as it kicks in, she starts shouting and screaming the notes and you constantly have the remote control in your hand, with your thumb on the volume buttons. With the first Camp Rock, it felt like it was trying too hard to be the new High School Musical and really pushed the boat to try and overtake the popularity and success of High School Musical, however it failed to impress. With the sequel, it could easily rival the successful High School Musical and is very easily better than Camp Rock.Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam might be better than the first movie but that doesn't mean it's a good movie, it's average at best. In this sequel, you can actually see that they've tried to improve the movie from the first one and while it does pay off, the movie is instantly forgettable, even if there are a couple of songs that aren't bad. The messages in the movie is crystal clear and it's your usual Disney message of working together as a team and how you should stick together, no matter what. If you were a fan of the first movie or like Disney Channel shows and movies like High School Musical or Hannah Montana, then the chances are that you may like this. If you've missed it then don't worry because Disney Channel has repeated the movie four times every day so far so you won't miss it so easily. If you're a parent and you're watching this with your children, you may find it alright but it's something you couldn't watch again. I couldn't watch it again, just thinking about it is making me cringe a little.Read more reviews at: www.dudedazzmoviereviews.wordpress.com
