Boring
if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
The acting in this movie is really good.
Blistering performances.
It's 8.30pm over here, on the 27th of March. Today is the birthday of one of my favorite horror icons, Ms. Caroline Williams. To celebrate, my special feature of the night will be a movie that she's very well known for; the movie that made her into a massive horror icon. It is the original sequel from the late great master of horror, Tobe Hooper, and it is one of the best sequels and films ever made: 1986's, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. It's a sequel that never gets old, and I just absolutely love watching it over and over again. There is an unforgettable performance from the amazing and iconic Caroline Williams, as a radio DJ, Stretch, and I find her character to be very bold, brave, and beautiful. This is also the movie that made Bill Moseley into a massive horror icon, for his funny and menacing performance as Leatherface's brother, Chop Top, which I find to be very cool and hilarious. And, as well, there is an unforgettable performance by Bill Johnson, as Leatherface, with him licking his lips, the way he moves, and the way he's swinging around his chainsaw. There are also awesome performances from late legends, Jim Siedow and Dennis Hopper. It's a horrifying sequel with the mixture of romance and comedy, plus you've got super-cool 80's hits and mind blowing special-effects from the Guru of Gore himself, Tom Savini. It's more than just a masterpiece of a feature, and I feel Hollywood should really be doing a direct sequel to this chapter, and mainly bringing back both Caroline Williams as Stretch, and Bill Moseley as Chop Top Sawyer, rather than wasting all their talents and time on remakes, prequels, etc.
As far as I'm concerned, this movie rocked. From start to finish, it's a pumped up, energetic, bat sh*t insane ride. An under-appreciated horror classic. Cult status for sure. The family is back with another added loon to the mix, returned home from the Vietnam war, who mixes in perfectly with his crazy brothers. The psychos are all portrayed perfectly, absolutely insane and delightfully erratic, spontaneous and vibrant. The other added joy to this pumped up horror flick is a chainsaw wielding Dennis Hopper descending into lunacy. The characters are superb, each getting a little time to go absolutely insane and break loose all hell. The psychos are all distinct, both visually and character wise, so they don't just feel like rehashes of each other. Livens up the movie. There are a lot of superb scenes in this ranging from moving car chases with Leatherface, to the underground human meat tunnels, to a music room showdown, to a CHAINSAW BATTLE. This movie goes above and beyond to go bigger. However, it ain't better than the original. Since it's a comedy now, it's lost that raw, horror film to it, truly embracing the horror, action comedy that it's labeled itself as. There's nothing wrong with this though as it stands apart from its predecessor, unique and flashy, and I'll be damned if I didn't have a blast watching it.For horror fans, and fans of the first, treat yourself to this cocaine fueled, steroid pumped sequel to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and have a damn good time. 7.5/10 horrifically fun.

In the 1973 original, Sally Hardesty-Enright was the sole survivor. She became catatonic and the police did not find the perpetrators. Thirteen years later, mysterious disappearances continue. Red River Radio DJ Stretch/Vanita Brock (Caroline Williams) gets prank calls from two idiots who get run off the road by the chainsaw welding family. Sally's uncle former cop Boude 'Lefty' Enright (Dennis Hopper) arrives after years of investigation. The original was disturbing and actually scary. There were moments of real originality. This sequel turns the franchise into camp. The thing is that director Tobe Hooper intends for it to be funny. It's not by accident. It's a deliberate act and it's lesser for it. It's full of silliness but it's that funny. In the exchange, the franchise loses all of the horror. It's almost a spoof of the original. The only compelling creepy scene is friend L.G. stumbling around eviscerated. Everything else is camp. Even Leatherface is a love-sick puppy. If you expect a spoof, this may be fun. If you expect something like the original, this may sicken you.
