Famed forensic psychiatrist Dr. Jack Gramm enjoys a reputation as one of the most sought-after profilers around. His expert testimony has resulted in the conviction of many criminals, including serial killer Jon Forster. On the eve of Forster's execution, one of Gramm's students is murdered in a vicious copycat crime, and Gramm himself receives an ominous message informing him that he has less than 90 minutes to live.

Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
I really do have to laugh at some people's reviews at times, and over the years, if I totally believe all the bad press that some (if not all) films receive, it would never ever be worth my while visiting a cinema or buying a DVD ever again. If I see a film, like it, and then see all the bad reviews I am sometimes left thinking 'am I the only one that got it?' or 'am I the only one that thought this was good'. In short, reading too many reviews can drive you absolutely insane. OK, so 88 Minutes received largely negative reviews......especially on IMDb. So at the time of writing this, the film has a rating of 5.9, which I class as just above average (5 is average right?). I am more than just a little annoyed that most of those that gave the film an above average rating failed to review it. However, it leaves me with the conclusion that most people are more than happy to complain, rather than go with the flow. After all, I don't think that here are many films for which I haven't read a review from somebody saying that it's the worst film they've ever seen. 88 Minutes, in my opinion is a good, above average, watchable movie. But some of the contradictory comments on people's reviews did my head in. For example:- Al Pacino's performance............Al Pacino is undoubtedly a brilliant actor. His character in this movie is cocky, self assured, calm and in his opinion, always right. Pacino plays this perfectly, so why do people think that he was out of place? Was there any need for him overstate and overact? No there wasn't. Did he look uncomfortable in his role? No he didn't. To me, maybe the reviewers were expecting some powerhouse acting which they didn't receive. The plot.........come on people!!! It wasn't muddled. It was easy to follow. Throwaway yes, but don't we, every now and again enjoy a film that we don't have to think too much about? Yes we do!! It is true to say there is a certain degree of implausibility about things but people should just look at the movie for what it is.......entertainment. I, for one, was entertained, although I did guess who was behind the killings. I mean come on, even true stories have that certain implausibility factor about them in order to make them entertaining...don't they? The acting........it seems that because Pacino's performance was (rightly) understated, everybody else acted badly. It is true that some performances did not bring out the best in the actors (Alicia Witt and Leelee Sobieski), others were excellent, especially William Forsythe and Neal McDonaugh. I'm done with the film now, but had to laugh at one on the extras on the DVD. The director stated that this was a 'low budget' movie. OK maybe it is in comparison to some.....but calling $30m low budget is an insult to my ears!! Anyway.......conclusion!! A good, but not brilliant film that a few more of you have actually enjoyed but not openly admitted. Good grief, those of you that have reviewed think it's so bad, I am left thinking that I have just stepped out of the 'bad movie' closet!! Watch this movie for what it is........entertainment!!!
This is one of those "Big Hair" Movies Al Pacino made in a Period where He, or the Make Up Artist, thought that the Actor's Hair had to be as Prominent as Possible to compensate for the Aging, used to be, Handsome Man's Declining Good Looks.Pacino looks Tired and almost Bored and Shares the Screen with a Number of Stunningly Beautiful Actresses. Every Scene seems to have another Looker, who may or may not be, part of a Jailed Serial Killer's Revenge Plot against an FBI Forensic Psychiatrist whose Testimony Helped Convict Him. It's one Absurdity after another as things Unfold in almost Real Time and the Movie tries hard to have a Suspenseful Pacing as Things Happen Quickly, without much Logic. The Audience is given so many Red Herrings and Suspects it becomes Criminally Comical. The Good Cast all seem to be Overacting that Hints that They know this is a Turkey and just want the whole thing to be Done With. It's Awfulness is also its Charm and it is Worth a Watch to Watch the Attractive Cast trapped in the Horrendous Direction and Screenplay. A Slick A-Movie that Plays like a Bad B-Movie and for that it is Something to Behold. It's one of those Train Wrecks that Draws You In and won't let go. So if You decide to Participate in this Pathetic Picture be Prepared for a Peek at Professional Movie Making at its most Awkward.
88 Minutes is a waste of quality talent in this poor excuse for a movie. What on earth is the legendary Al Pacino (The Godfather, Scarface, Heat) doing here?! Surely he could have been a redeeming feature however his talent is completely wasted. He is certainly a shadow of his former self here. You can also throw in Alicia Witt (Urban Legend, Two Weeks Notice), Leelee Sobieski (Eyes Wide Shut, Roadkill), William Forsythe (The Rock, Out For Justice), Deborah Kara Unger (The Game, The Hurricane), Amy Brenneman (NYPD Blue, Judging Amy), Neal McDonough (Band Of Brothers, Minority Report) and Ben McKenzie (Southland, Gotham) who can consider this movie to be a black mark on their filmography. The plot itself was very unoriginal and derivative, and I'm not going to bother going into details here. All I can say is that this is one of Al Pacino's worst movies that he has ever done.I was so disgusted with how bad this movie was I didn't even bother finishing it.Don't bother with this movie, and don't waste your time.1/10.
I really like these kinds of Mystery Thriller movies .They make fell exited .I like to follow them to see what would happen next, especially when they are so well performed like this one.Al Pacino is perfect as always. He plays the role of an experienced psychiatrist in a very cool way.I think if he was so stressed out and if he did strange things to keep himself alive it would have been unbelievable but now his great cool performance is acceptable. The ending is wise enough to make us amazed.Great music and wonderful cinematography style don't leave the audience alone.Any way I loved it and I do think it deserves a better rating in IMDb.
