Based on Frank Miller's graphic novel, "300" is very loosely based the 480 B.C. Battle of Thermopylae, where the King of Sparta led his army against the advancing Persians; the battle is said to have inspired all of Greece to band together against the Persians, and helped usher in the world's first democracy.

Fresh and Exciting
The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.
King Leonidas of Sparta and a force of 300 men fight the Persians at Thermopylae in 480 B.C. B
The crystal clear super slow motion capture is just as revolutionary as the effects were in 'The Matrix' at the time. Whether you love or hate the film, it is worth watching for the photography and visuals alone. The film is indeed very graphic at times, but also feature some of the greatest eye candy we've seen in a long time! The film is fast-paced and exciting and a feast for all the senses.
I think it is the best fudgin movie its do or die baby and he goes out like a champ !!! Ive seen this movie about 10 times love it
When you hear about 300, big-scale epics spring to mind such as Ben-Hur, Gladiator and The Ten Commandments. You think of large amounts of actors fighting on beautiful sets but what you get is CGI actors fighting on CGI sets covered in CGI blood. The only real thing I could see was my interest decreasing at every minute. Some of the scenes are highly iconic, such as the "This is Sparta" scene. This film however is a complete mess, all strangely presented through a yellow filter. I understand that this movie is based on a comic book but it feels more like a 2 hour long video game cut-scene than a movie. The world is poorly set up, the storyline is barely explained and the theme is cliché, the idea of never giving up. I dislike this movie for so many reasons and this is coming from a person who tried really hard to find a single good thing about it. This is probably brilliant to those entertained by mindless animation.
