I love this movie so much
Absolutely the worst movie.
Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
>> PROS It's a Martial-Arts Fantasy with great visual effects, splendid Chinese costumes and stylish Kung Fu fights. The landscapes in the film show Mother Nature in all its green glory. It is a rare film in which you will see the coming together of the great martial artists, Jet Li and Jackie Chan.>> CONS The movie offers NO Thrill or Suspense or Depth of plot and characters. The supposedly lead character of Michael Angarano is very weak and unimpressive. He is a wimpy character who does not know Kungfu even though he is supposed to be fan of martial arts. The story-line is predictable.Acting is poor & dialogues are ordinary. The coming together of Jet Li and Jackie Chan is a complete waste! It is just a "time pass", ordinary and boring picture. The watch-it-forget-it type! Not worth recommending it others.Forbidden Kingdom will be liked only by kids and teenagers.
(58%) In 2012 "Man with the iron fists" hit cinema screens, and then really quickly afterwards it hit the inside of a DVD case where it has, from now until the end of time, been totally forgotten about. Most copies lie as abandoned trade-ins gathering dust inside bargain bins in second-hand shops covered in "reduced 25p" stickers. Forbidden kingdom on the other hand is a little different. This pays homage to old kung fu movies such as the Shaw brothers movies, Bruce Lee, and to a certain extent old Jackie Chan movies. But the writing here wasn't partly done by Eli Roth, so the plot makes at least some sort of sense and can be followed without ever wanting to stick a kabab skewer through your own hand to distract from the sheer awfulness. There are actual characters that have at least some substance, and it runs along at a fair old rate. The plot here is more or less a cross between "The never ending story" with action scenes very similar to those that take place in "Mortal Kombat" (more so the games than the so-so film), only much less violent. The action is maybe a bit too CGI heavy at times, but Jackie Chan and Jet Li do have a decent fight with each other, which is well worth a look for their many fans. This overall is a quality product, with good production values, and clearly a large budget backing it up every step. And even though it won't ever become a classic must-watch, it is still worth a look.
So pretty much everyone in the whole wide world who ever had a slight interest in kung-fu and martial arts movie in general were dying to one day see Jackie Chan and Jet Li in the same movie. It was like something they wish with all their heart but would never imagine to come true. Well, you know what they say, be careful what you wish for, because chances are Hollywood will turn this wish against you like the evil genie from "The Wishmaster". So here you go, a movie catered for 12 year old who know nothing about martial arts and would be just as happy with a movie starring two guys waving their arms around and acting like it's kung-fu. A stupid movie not so much about Jackie and Jet's awesomeness but rather about the usual boring American teenage boy everybody was already tired of when Karate Kid 3 came out. And that was 20 years ago.Go to hell, Hollywood.
Jackie Chan and Jet Li team up for a rather interesting tale of oriental folklore in the search for the "Forbidden Kingdom."After obtaining the mysterious "staff", Chan and Collin Lou must discover its' history, and fight the forces of evil.I found the story capable of maintaining a high level of interest and the story moves at a sustainable pace. Very good visual effects. While some might consider it a cross between "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "Drunken Master", there are similarities, flying people and a hysterical Chan, the film does stand on its' own, and delivers a very exciting conclusion. The White Haired Witch Demoness Ni-Chang(Li Bing Bing) is terrific and as ruthless and nasty as they come.8 out of 10 rating.Michael Angarano does a fine job.
