It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.
I loved the movie- it's the kind you keep thinking about even after the credits roll. I feel like the naysayers fall into 1 of 2 categories: 1. They're know-it-alls - just because the characters didn't make the choices you wanted them to do, doesn't make it a bad movie- if that's what you're after, go play The Sims! 2. They're people who don't agree with the premise of the movie, but it's based on a true story, so if you want to tell your own story... start writing the script to your own movie!I may be a bit bitter, but some of the reviews with low ratings on IMDB may have caused me to miss out in this wonderful film!
This movie (for reasons unknown to me) is being billed as a 'horror'. It is a survival story based on real events. Jungles are scary places to most people, but dare I say not 'horrific'. No gore. No gratuitous violence. Just survival in a difficult situation. Yes, it could have used better editing to keep the story tight, but it kept my husband awake, alert and enjoying the film the whole way through (he usually falls asleep half way through our after dinner film unless he's had a nap ;) ). The cinematography was gorgeous! Very realistic. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable film.
Jungle is a survival story starring Daniel Radcliffe who lost weight to show his characters emaciated state.Based on a true story, Radcliffe plays Israeli Yossi Ghinsberg who went trekking in the Bolivian jungle with three other friends in 1981. They hook up with an Austrian adventurer called Karl, who suggests to them a trip into the Amazon jungle to search for a lost Indian tribe and some gold.Soon after the foursome set off there is some bickering with Karl. Yossi and Kevin part from the other two. However with heavy rainfall their raft capsizes and Yossi gets lost in the rapids.Yossi needs to survive in the jungle and hopes that he gets rescued. He is battered, bruised, has to avoids snakes, other animals and has creepy crawlies in his body. He is constantly left in a hallucinatory state, as the days go on Yossi is clinging to his faith. This is Radcliffe's film, it is rather slow to get going and the other characters in the film are rather sketchy. By the end you can see Radcliffe has had a grim time.
I was browsing amazon prime and found this title on a uneventful Monday night, the plot sounded engaging enough but was more intrigued that daniel radcliffe was playing the lead role. I decided to give it a play and was completely entranced by the absolute beautiful and breathtaking cinematography of the film. Not only that but the tale and momentum of the film was so engaging that I could not peel my eyes away for more than a minute. It is essentially a movie about the trials and tribulations of self discovery and willpower of survival. Lot's of fight or flight scenarios and a very emotional tie to the main characters. One of the better movies I have seen in a while. don't read into the trolls negative reviews too hard they probably watch movies like hitch 1,000 times a year and laugh at how "clever" it is. Seriously, I made an account just so I could say how good this movie was.
