If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.
One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
I want to say that Free Fall was an experience. In many ways is like a 40's melodrama. He, his wife and the other woman. What makes it feel different is that the other woman is a man. Hanno Koffler and Max Riemelt are superb as the forbidden sides of this triangle. Frank, compassionate, truthful and painful, very painful. The love and passion, fear and guilt in Hanno Koffler's eyes are haunting and recognizable. Max Riemelt's Kay makes the alternative in Koffler's Marc's life totally plausible and fills it with a form of suspense that the ending didn't completely clear out. So I'm so happy there will be a part 2. I can't wait.
An exciting movie portraying the dilemma of a father starting his own family and falling in love to his partner in crime man. The story tackles the stigma of a woman finding out that her husband is cheating on her not with another woman but with another man. And how she acts about the situation. The story also tells about the struggle of a straight man falling in love with another man while starting up his own family with a woman whom he also loves. Three roads are being introduced to him by life and he choose the road that he believes it is the best for him and the two people he loves, openly or not.The movie shows love of a man struggling what love he will choose. All praise to the people for their awesome product.
Freier Fall is a masterpiece of epic proportions, and all other films pale in comparison. In every possible way, the film is far superior to its predecessors (i.e., Brokeback Mountain). It's clear to see early on that every detail had been decided carefully and deliberately. It is more than a cerebral film. It is well-crafted, well-thought-out work of art.Freier Fall is a love story, plain and simple. It should not be pigeon-holed as "gay" genre; its appeal is wholly universal. In fact, it belongs in a class of its own. The creators don't resort to the stereotypes and tropes so often seen with far too many queer characters in film and on television. Nor is it a "coming of age" story either, of which there are also too many.Sexuality is inconsequential and irrelevant to the story the film tells. It is a small part of the greater whole. Allowed to exist purely in the complex, gray area that it often is in real life. Whether or not a viewer enjoys watching two men fall in love, Freier Fall is a film that must be seen regardless. It's a gorgeous paragon of German cinematography and deserves far more acclaim and accolades than it has received thus far. I 100% support Freier Fall 2 becoming a reality.
This film is beyond words beautiful. The rawness and connection between these two actors and their characters is beyond beautiful. I must admit I've watched this movie over six times and I fall in love with it each and every time there is not one part I don't like. It's a real drama and part of me wishes that Kay would have been apart of Marc's life forever ...but it tore me apart and yes I criedMost films now a days lack originality and they lack some real connection between characters. You could see the relationship between Marc and his girlfriend but you could also see the social norms and expectations for how you were supposed to love in this film. Kay was not the social expectation , but you knew that deep down inside Marc loved Kay, the difference was that Kay didn't let people control him and control his life. However Marc was controlled by people around him which made it difficult to accept the fact of his feelings for this man. Its so real and raw which makes it beautiful . like even when he was trying to rationalize he wasn't gay, that had nothing to do with it, you really can't help who you fall in love with.
