Fantastic!
It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
I thought with a few decent actors that this film held promise but sadly no. It was shocking how they can kill so many yet not a hair gets out of place or a drop of blood on weapons or clothes, one character wearing a white jacket and boots looks like she has just stepped out of the salon. Come on guys attention to detail . The characters were likable and the acting was not that bad but the story line and zombies were poor and weak the makeup was over the top. Not a film to watch even if your bored and got nothing to do. Im sure this is one film these actors would like to put behind them. Id be interested to know how much they were paid for this.
This actually started out with some promise. I liked how the audience is told and shown in grainy footage how and where the VM2 (zombie virus) started and where it spread to, a great opening. Unfortunately though it quickly turns into just another forgettable, somewhat entertaining horror flick. The special effects are bad, the zombies corny and recycled kill after kill. It's basically a road trip movie with a band of survivors heading to the rumoured refuge on the island of Catalina. Their plan is to catch a ferry to what they hope will be a zombie free zone. There are a couple of interesting story arcs along the way and I've never seen a zombie tiger so... that was something. I always enjoy Ving Rhames but damn he makes some questionable movie choices and Taryn Manning is also here in a lead role, same problem for her.Ultimately a decent enough zombie flick for fans of the genre. 4/10/13
After a zombie virus decimates and nearly destroys humanity, separate groups of survivors band together to reach a safe-haven and battle through the ravenous hordes of the undead to reach their destination. This was a decent enough zombie effort which has a lot to like. Among the best parts of this one comes from the fast-paced plot here, mostly due to the fact that this one just starts off immediately with the zombie invasion and never really lets up at all, continually going forward with a never-ending series of extremely fun, high-energy confrontations that manage to feature just a large number of action scenes. The opening attack on the trio in the abandoned ghost town is really fun as they continually appear and overwhelm the trio forcing the last-minute save which is an incredibly fun brawl, the later ambush in the sporting goods store and a fight in the school are quite fun attacks, though this one gets its best values in the later half. The big attack in the suburbs, where the group is overrun by the horde of swarming zombies that requires the save from the other roving band of survivors that also splits the group up, the rather fun encounters of each team as the main group encounters the zombies on the outskirts in several extended chase sequences as the split group gets deeper into the city on their own encounters with the zombies before finally meeting up again as the huge group dashes to the city docks away from the creatures and finally getting the all-out fun of the zombified creatures coming into play here with the final brawl to get clear in order to finally be safe. These here give this a rather large amount of action that carries throughout here that brings another big positive into play here with the high number of personnel in the groups also makes for some good times, due to the fact that it allows for more to succumb to the attacks as well as giving off more gore during those scenes, from the zombie violence and the blood and gore featured amongst it all that provide a lot of enjoyment. Along with the utterly enjoyable zombie make-up that gives the creatures a great look, that this one also features a decent enough back-story here to explain the world-wide epidemic actually coming to fruition in some decent addition action scenes, all of which give this one a lot to like that can hold off the film's few flaws. The main problem with this is the inconsistencies with the creatures as the fact that the zombies tend to fluctuate between the running kind or the slow, shambling kind all the time without any kind of merit paid to which one is used throughout the scene, and the distracting nature is somewhat off. The last problematic area is the usually typical but still noticeably bad CGI, not only utilized for the cityscapes off in the distance and all kinds of gunfire when it's noticeable that it wasn't fired at all but also gets used for the blood-splatter which occurs on both species and letting the wounds themselves appear as practical matters. Overall, it's still a lot of fun even with these flaws.Rated R: Graphic Violence, Language and violence-against-animals.
-If your going to make a zombie movie, at least put some stock into your special effects and makeup teams. If the film is going to have a generic plot with wooden acting, at least give us some good eye candy instead of the horrible CGI crap that is rampant in this movie.-I see a lot of people comparing this to the Walking Dead, and while I will agree this movie does have a guy good at archery and the "coincidental" name drop of that guy "Kirkman", comparing this mess to the Walking Dead is a travesty and just flat out dumb. Read the comics and you will realize how creating a character works, and it translates well to the show.-The Walking Dead has very complex character development, it is very believable of how people would react and change in that kind of crazy situation. This movie doesn't even have a fraction of that. The characters are blocky and don't seem to be affected by events that should shatter them.-Ramona and Billy are some of the most irritating characters maybe ever.-Too much CGI, bad CGI.-I love the zombie genre so I figured why not, I wish i hadnt.STOP COMPARING THIS TO THE WALKING DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
