Awesome Movie
Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
Intentions were to be the best of the Trilogy. Griff Furst directs this third visit to Lake Placid, Main; where the crocodiles are known for chomping. Nathan Bickerman (Colin Ferguson) is a game warden that relocates his family. Local Sheriff Tony Willinger (Michael Ironside) tries his best to convince everyone that the days of killer crocs are buried in the past. But his son, desperate for a pet, finds baby crocodiles and feeds them until they can satisfy their own growing appetites. The lake and surrounding forest will no longer be safe. The script is cheesy and the CGI is more or less than mediocre. The plot is the same as the previous two flicks. There is eye candy you can't ignore. And more fun than fright. Yancy Butler steals the show as the hunting guide. Rounding out the cast: Kristy Mitchell, Mark Evans, James Marchant, Bianca Ilich, Roxanne Pallett, Brian Landon and Kacey Barnfield.
Oh my God, what did I do? What was wrong with me WASTING precious time. I wasn't sure if this was supposed to be a horror movie, a spook on horror movies, plain funny, or just plain stupid. Well, I opted for "killing the joy of watching horror movies". I don't expect much of a horror movie. We always bet after the character "introduction" (in this case the dinner of the evening - talking from the crocodile's perspective) who is going in what order. That's the best part of any movie in this genre. This way even a bad movie is actually... sort of fun. However, this time nothing worked to get any enjoyment out of it. The acting was lousy, something you can expect from horror movies. Actors/actresses have to start somewhere. However, modern technology allows you to paint the sidewalk in any colour. I really wonder what the director, the editor etc were thinking. The "animation was so bad that I was about to stop the DVD. The characters were a pain in the rear. The storyline itself sucked big time, never mind the dialogues and the "lack of logic". How can anyone fight a "crocodile" with a knife after being shot? How can a door that was not working lock the "victims" out? The list of FAILS is long. Too bad 1/2 star rating is not an option.
I was kind of 50/50 on what to think of this! I just watched with an open mind! It had a more slower paced & for the first time, a different opening to the Lake Placid Franchise! It starts a couple who go skinny dipping in the lake & as usual an attack takes place! This time 4-5 baby Crocodiles attack the couple in the most embarrassing way before gnawing on them & killing them! 2 Years later & the crocodiles have turned into adult crocodiles! The young boy keeps feeding them meat from their house & also steals from the supermarket in order to feed them! The kills were abit cut out in the film & the bloody graphics were almost as good as Lake Placid 2! The graphics, AKA, CGI was cheaply done just like the previous film! The Crocodiles looking unrealistic & the attacks looking fake with several rending errors noticeable with the cheap CGI! Like the biting effects looked really fake & not meaty or even realistic! The film consists of Teens who go camping (& Yes you guessed it! Strip naked & change into bikinis which is slightly different but all the same! Seen it all & done it all! In other words!), some hunters including an over-her-head hunter, Reba! Including the family, babysitter & the son who was feeding the Crocodiles! The ending on the other hand with the petrol station was pretty good! Liked how the crocodile exploded into blood & guts by foolishly eating the petrol nozzle with petrol coming out!To say the least! I liked this film as much as the second, the second which I thought was just a tiny abit better for some reason! This one having abit more of a slower approach! It makes me wonder were all the Crocodiles come from in these sequels! But I was in 2 minds in what rating to give this film, so 9/10
Silly second sequel to Steve Miner's original from 1999, this time about over-sized CGI-crocodiles eating a bunch of topless women with Michael Ironside, Colin Ferguson and a hard-boiled Yancy Butler out to slay the beasts. They're not really successful at this, resulting in a lot of casualties. The film's pretty much so dumb it becomes fun. Almost thankfully, it takes itself less serious than the previous installment, 'Lake Placid 2' (2007). The opening-scene of 'Lake Placid 3' features full frontal female nudity and sex on a muddy beach that ends in a croc-munching death of the couple. At least somebody knew what kind of film they were making.
