Thanks for the memories!
At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
Well, I just saw this movie with my girlfriend and there are few things which caught my eye and which I really like.SpoilersI wouldn't call this a zombie-type movie but a demonic possession type of movie which we learn from this movie. And what I like about it is that it isn't a type of house in nowhere which contains a happy family and one member is possessed but this movie is placed in an apartment building in the middle of the city with demons in it. Unique in my opinion.I like the parallel storytelling from the teens and the SWAT team. And while I'm at it. I'm not sure what happened to the two teens which got locked in a room. As I saw, only one got possessed. I suppose they also got infected. Anyways, one of the best movies alongside REC and would recommend it to everyone.
Taking place immediately after the events of the first film, REC 2 may lack the sublime quality of its remarkable predecessor & looks more like a rehash of REC than anything else, it nonetheless manages to be very effective in few sequences, does a fine job in momentarily recreating the nerve-wracking tension of the original and even though it's by no means a worthy sequel, it still fares much better than its cash-grab counterparts.Set in the very quarantined location where the events of previous film unfolded, REC 2 concerns a medical officer & 3-men SWAT team who enter the ill-fated apartment building to get a blood sample from a possessed girl in order to develop an antidote for the deadly virus that's responsible for the demonic outbreak amongst the residents. Managing to control the situation to some extent, the team carries on with the mission until they encounter an unexpected survivor.Directed by Jaume Balagueró & Paco Plaza, the film doesn't waste any time in setting its premise from scratch & simply jumps into the chaos that surrounded the first film. The horror elements are executed in almost the same manner which makes the story less fresh & more predictable and even the use of camera, different point of views & staged angles take away a lot from the experience. It also suffers from trying too hard as some moments comes off as unintentionally hilarious. The entire cast delivers a performance that's more or less of a letdown only and the film as a whole pretty much fails to genuinely capture the terror, carnage & visceral horror of its predecessor. On an overall scale, REC 2 has a lot going on & tries too hard to repeat the magic of the original, which unfortunately never happens. While few will find something to admire & enjoy about it, for me it's a highly inferior sequel but by no means is it a bad one. Worth a shot.
Ignoring the – rather pointless – Hollywood remake, Quarantine, REC was a cult classic in the horror genre. However, naturally – being a Spanish movie – it was cursed with subtitles, therefore it never reached a mainstream audience. However, that didn't stop it spawning a sequel, which takes place immediately after the events in the first film.If you haven't seen REC then stop reading and watch it now. It is the better of the two movies, but, as far as sequels go, REC2 is actually pretty good. Here, a team of armed police officers enter a quarantined building to see what happened to the original occupants. And here's a clue zombies.Of course naturally things don't go too well for our boys in blue and, if you can ignore the fact that armed, well-trained men get easily overpowered and forced onto the back foot by unarmed (albeit zombified) civilians, then you can enjoy this one, too. There's more gunplay as the budget is bigger than the original, so they can afford to add a few shoot-outs into the mix. However, if you've seen the original, you'll have already seen the best scares. REC2 certainly isn't as intense as its predecessor, but it's still a decent enough follow-on.Plus you probably won't care about the central team as much as they're all just 'men in armour' and it's hard to make out who's who. There are some other characters added a little way into the film, but that feels like an interruption as you've done your best to follow (and care about) the initial team before this new lot are thrown into the frying pan. It's not as good as REC, but in a world of terrible cash-in sequels, it certainly stands out as one of the better ones (which is more than I can say for 'REC3').
I loved the first Rec movie. It was like a movie sent from hell directly to my address to scare the living crap out of me which it did and i loved it so i could not wait for the sequel. The sequel picks up where the first movie ended, thats great. The movie goes on just as the first, but thats great. The movies ending is not like the first which showed up to be CRAP!! They ruined the whole "hoping for a trilogy" dream. But its worth being seen:) The acting is still pretty good and the thing about the Spanish language is that they talk so fast so it gives the movie a stres factor, pluss since you got running infected people chasing you, and they are fast f...... to so with the language it just makes your head stres but in a positive way. Its still scary and it leaves a shivering scar in the soul. Great work from the Spanish-horror-armada;)
