Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.

A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

So this is the final chapter, eh? Good thing I didn't see this before last year, because I wouldn't have been able to joke about yep, they made another sequel! Jigsaw once again gets top billings even though he's been dead for four movies! They once again just use flashbacks and recordings, but at least unlike slasher movie villains, he stays dead. This film features the next victim being forced to let his friends and family die for lying about escaping from one of Jigsaw's traps. He shows this off with hook scars on his chest. Since he never actually went through the trap...how did he get those in the first place? As my main man Deadpool said, "Well, that's just lazy writing". I'm amazed at how 3D was hyped so much at this time and am so glad Ebert reminded us that it adds nothing to the experience. The movie ends by revealing that Dr. Gordon from the first film was Jigsaw's true apprentice the whole time, which kind of makes you wonder why he had Hoffmann as an apprentice at all. It's even more depressing than usual, as nearly everyone, good or bad, dies or suffers in this movie. *1/2

I have a soft place in my heart for 'Saw 3D: The Final Chapter'. It is definitely the most unique of all the original seven 'Saw' films. It feels very different to the rest (the first trap is even set outside in a box for the public to view). It also feels like a film designed to wrap things up. It feels like it is closing the arc that is the 'Saw' series. It does all of this surprisingly well. The character of 'Hoffman' really comes into his own in this one. I wasn't the biggest fan of his in the previous films he had starred in, but in this one he is menacing and feels like a genuine and scary threat. There are also a great number of traps in this film and they are all good ones. While in the previous few films it felt a little like they were out of ideas when it came to the traps, they proved people wrong in this one by being very innovative.Without spoiling anything I also love the way the film ended. If they hadn't ended it that way I think they would have regretted it forever. The 3D I could have done without, but that aside this is a distinctly strong entry in a great series.

Saw 3D: The final chapter: the last saw movie, as far as quality goes, truly is complicated. The beginning and a lot of the middle is honestly kinda crap, and the gore is cranked up way to high, I mean yes that was expected going in, but still, it could've been a lot better without some of those unnecessarily gory shots. As far as acting goes, eh, nothing that special here, a couple of performances by the main detectives on the case are super cheesy and laughable, the rest suffice OK I suppose. The journey Bobby must go through to get to the ending is wrought with gore, violent deaths, screaming, and predictable goings on. The deaths are gross, unpleasant, and I'm sorry but I just can't enjoy it, just can't, especially since this is nothing new, same old same old. Now the ending is what was actually interesting, the ending is suspenseful, nostalgic, just a little surprising, and I think they ending this slasher series well. I liked Jill Tucker in this movie, I feel like she did well, and her character had good solid material to work with. Unfortunately I cannot give the film a positive review. With some bad performances by a few select actors, a very poor beginning, and an over the top distasteful amount of 3D gore, I just cannot give it one. I give this final installment in the bloody saw franchise a 4/10. I now will have to see the other previous films LOL, this is the only one I've seen so far. And damnit Jill Tucker shouldn't have died!

The Saw series ends with a whimper rather than a bang in this underwhelming final installment which simply fails to take the time to set up its various twists and turns. For instance, we have a man who's lied about surviving a Jigsaw Trap who gets put in a trap for real, fair enough. But what actually happens to him? It doesn't look like he dies. Does he end up discredited? Does he end up a depressed and isolated man? Then we have this Jigsaw survivors group. Great idea, but, what happens to them? What's the end game? And finally we have the returning Dr Gordon (Cary Elwes). What a waste! Yes, I understand that he needs to be a Jigsaw disciple and that this makes sense, but surely they could have set this up better. He is in the opening scene and shows up at the Survivor Group, but what happened to his family? Did they break up? Did he disappear for a few months? Come on guys, if you're going to bring back a character after 5 movies, explain something. The one thing I do like in this movie is Detective Hoffman's ramboesque rampage. He is bug eyes crazy and I love his character. I didn't really care about him in Part 5, but in 6 and 7, I buy him as an interesting and dangerous psycho killer. There's also a nice trap with three corners of a love triangle and circular saw, but when is that happening? Who set this trap: Jigsaw, Hoffman or Amanda, or hell, was it Gordon? In the end this a poor final installment. It rushes through things, doesn't explain enough and looks cheaper than the previous ones. I didn't see it in 3D, but it's obvious which scenes pander to it. Hoffman tries to keep us interested, but his bonkers rampage isn't enough to save this. A poor ending, which causes me to fail the whole series. 3 good films out of 7 with a crap ending does not a worthwhile series make. Could have been better but oh well. It is what it is.
