As Good As It Gets
The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
Max, a macho, solitary Rottweiler police dog is ordered to go undercover as a primped show dog in a prestigious Dog Show, along with his human partner, to avert a disaster from happening. Show Dogs is perhaps another of the many bad movies of 2018 plus i'm starting to think that Will Arnett literally takes any role just to pay his rent or something cause after 'Lego Batman The Movie' he hasn't made anything worth watching or mentioning as a whole. The overall perfomances and storyline were also very much horrendous to say the least. (F)
In spite of the ratings I really enjoyed this film. It helps being a doglover/owner but both adults and kids will get a laugh from this film. Very clever filming with dogs talking to each other and to their humans. There is a real storyline here with good guys and an amiable hero. Recommended for all age groups.
I was just about to go see it the first weekend when I read some bad reviews. I didnt want to be disapoointed. My little papillon dog looks like mine. Weeks later I took the whole family (4 generations) to see this film. Either the reviewers didn't have dogs or they didn't have kids. It was laugh out loud funny to the 4-7 year old bunch and the 67 year old great grandma. Everyone in between loved it too. It is a show we will have to buy. I think Alvin and the Chipmunks got the same dissing. And that was one funny film!
I really liked this movie. As a former Rottweiler owner, it was great to see one in a lead role. I'm not going to go in depth about it but I will ask that the irate parents who opposed the scene that was taken out please give this movie a higher rating. While I agree the scene did not belong in the movie, I feel the movie deserves a second chance now that it was edited. C'mon, you got why you wanted so please rate the movie higher.
