I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.
A story that's too fascinating to pass by...
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
I think Chandi Chowk to China is a great film and it is fun to watch. I don't understand why most people don't like it but for me, the film was great! Akshay Kumar is just funny as hell in this film, playing his character Sidhu is just lol. I think he acted very well.Deepika Padukone is lovely as ever! Playing a double role again (First being (Om Shanti Om) she was great. I liked her character Meow Meow, i think that it is a cool name and a very cool character. Her action scenes at the airport was fantastic. She looked great in all her costumes and her hair/ make-up was very beautiful! Her other character was also funny Ms. TSM.Dada was great same as the other star cast in the film. The songs in CC2C was funny. I love the title track Chandi Chowkt to China and Tere Naine (The sky song)...Overall this film is a great watch! My rating for Chandi Chowk to China: 7/10
Well this film is boring and below par. the comic timing is horrible and the comic punches are kind of childish. The film has some good songs but not all. The mythical nature of the film (where a particular villages' belief that akshya kumar was reborn) sounds interesting but is not well portrayed . Mithun chakrovorty was just OK in his role with no speciality. Double roles in case of deepika padukone was not so well performed either. Specially the name Mao Mao of deepika padukone sounded weird. The only good part of the film was its action. Akhshaya kumar was simply outstanding in that. I know he has a martial arts background and that really was what still kept the film alive. Otherwise the acting of Akshya Kumar was also very mediocre. On the whole the idea was to represent kung fu in a comic sense and i guess it went awfully wrong.
AkshayBhai is currently playing roles where he's the hero but also a complete clown. He pulled this role off well in Namastay London but seems to be sinking lower and lower in each successive film. Can it get worse? Well his character is urinated upon in this film.Deepika is imaginatively assigned a double role in this and succeeds well. Both her characters appear distinguishably different although this is probably due to the costume and make-up rather than strength of her characters. The premise has potential, however the script appears to have been cobbled together. This film would probably disappoint it's audience because they'd be expecting popcorn and actually be fed peanut soup. Overall it's a farcical film made watchable by the dumb antics of AkshayBhai, eye candy of Deepika, and some fine kung foolery by Mithun.Pros - Different to the usual Bollywood fare! Soundtrack has 1 great song...Cons - Odd continuity glitch, plot-holes, swear words!?Overall - runs out of steam just before credits role
Nikhil Advani's Chandni Chowk To China is okay film... not much near its hype, yet watchable. People had gargantuan expectations from the film... but sadly it's not near it's hype. The first hr is enjoyable, but the second hr isn't. 'CC2C' could've been a entertainer of a lifetime...but sadly it's not.Performances: Mithun Chakraborty is excellent... The Legend continues his magic. Akshay Kumar is a scene-stealer. He's good. Deepika is alright. Gordan Liu is wasted. Ranvir Shorey is passable. Roger Yuan is bland.CC2C is a disappointment.
