A waste of 90 minutes of my life
There are better movies of two hours length. I loved the actress'performance.
Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
In Bollywood, Sequels were not successes earlier, From Nigahein(1989) which was a sequel of Naagin(1986), Hathyar(Vaastav) were all failures. But PHP was the first success which was followed by Krissh, Dhoom 2, LRMB.etc Hera Pheri wasn't a hit when released in 2000, but it got a cult status which slowly made Priyadarshan a successful name. The film was a remake of malyalam film Ramji Rao Speaking. This time, Neeraj Vohra directed the film, retaining the same male cast, but this time they copied Lost Stock and 2 Smokin Barrels. When Hera Pheri had released Akshay was struggling to prove himself as an actor/star while Suneil too was moving out from his action hero image. In fact the film hardly gathered buzz that time but slowly after repeated viewings on TV and DVDS it got cult status. But when PHP released Akshay had become a comedy king, so hence his dominance in the script, in the original Suneil had a more important role then him but in this, Akshay dominates from frame 1 to 10 perhaps because Neeraj worked with him before in Khiladi 420. The original was a situational comedy but PHP is turned into a slapstick fare where actors make faces, stupid comic scenes The first scene itself is an indicator that this time the film is more for the front benchers. Some scenes are funny like the swimming pool scene, the scene when Akshay dupes Rajpal but after a point of time, it gets tiring with the same gags and lengthy. Worst of all is the director adds lot more then he can chew, so many subplots which get tiring after a while. By the time the film ends it gets tedious, the ending in the circus is not funny but very lame.Direction by Neeraj Vohra is below par, he relies a lot on slapstick Music by HR is okay, those days HR as a singer had debutted Hindi Cinema, Most films featured him in music videos whenever he composed and sung, here too he sings plenty of songs luckily he doesn't make an appearance though, Kitne Armaan is the best track while Ae Meri Zohrajabeen is funAkshay Kumar had started getting repetitive with his same type of comic act, here he overdoes it terribly in some scenes too, Perhaps he lacked a good director this time, but yet he does shine in several scenes Paresh Rawal however goes completely over the top, his comic act as Baburao in the original was superb as it was deadpan here however he goes loud and makes funny faces and hence he doesn't work here Suneil Shetty gets lesser scope and isn't in form this time, he doesn't even get enough scope to act unlike in the original. Amongst the heroines Both are dubbed, Rimii Sen is as usual, Bipasha is okay Sharat Saxena is loud, Ravi Kissan is as usual, Rajpal Yadav is typecast, Manoj Joshi and others are hardly worth mentioning.
You would have seen Hera Pheri, liked it a lot and then looked forward with happiness when you heard about Phir Hera Pheri. its only when you actually see the movie that you realize how bad it is.the comedy is too goofy and slapstick with nothing as hilarious as the original HP. the only funny dialogues are those that are repeated from the Hera Pheri. the worst thing is that the story line is a complete rip-off of "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels". the story is absolutely the same except that it has been Indianised (with Bipasha basu providing the glamor) and goofy so-called comedy replacing the action from LS & TSB. The ending sequence is a cut-to-cut copy of the original English movie. the climax setting in the circus and the free-for-all fight sequences are meant only for those with an IQ less than 75.all in all, reminds us that even the original Hera Pheri was a rip-off of a Tamil movie released in the 90s.
Priyadarshan's team of Akshay, Suniel, and Paresh are at it again repeating the success formula of Hera Pheri! This time, Akshay falls for a scheme presented by a company that claims to double your money in 21 days if you invest with them. Others get involved such as a stuttering don, small-time thieves, kidnappers, drug smugglers, and a black market dealer creating one hilarious laugh riot. Of course, Paresh once again gives the funniest performance with his great comic timing. Songs are ignorable. The only drawback of the film is the climax scene, which is funny but is stretched out way, way too long and makes you wonder when this movie is actually going to end. The ending is a bit aggravating as it leaves you hanging, but I guess that was intentional as Priyadarshan wants us to watch Hera Pheri III!
I saw Hera Pheri a few years back and laughed a lot. Script was witty, direction was great, acting ( Paresh Rawal's) was excellent( i just hope it wasn't a copy of some foreign movie. I just watched Phir Hera Pheri and felt like bolting out of the theater. There are repetitions of Hera Pheri scenes, disgusting plagiarism from a very well known English movie, uninspired performances and direction trying desperately to be funny. It is disgusting to watch movies produced by a country with second largest population incapable of coming out with an original plot line. Why on earth do we have to steal soundtracks, story lines and concepts from others? Song and dance we have.....and even that is repetitive.Where has art house cinema gone?
