This is not horror. Zombie movie is just a package for the satire of the American system and modern politics in general. As a horror it is a complete failure, and as an anti-war film and political satire it could have been much better. I'm not sure whether the story of soldiers who are rising from the dead to vote against Bush is original or taken from somewhere, but it is too obvious, unfunny and cheap. While I fully support the message sent by this film, I think that it doesn't belong in a horror franchise. As a horror movie it deserves 3/10 and 7/10 for it's message and the way it's presented, so5/10

When I saw the preview of this, okay it's just another zombie movie. Zombie soldiers are coming out of the grave to wreak havoc, yawn! How wrong I was.Although Joe Dante makes no reference to any war or people we know he's not kidding anybody. Clive Barker said to him "Ann Coulter will be after you in a heartbeat."The story is about a presidential adviser who is on a cable talk show along side a right wing political commentator/satirist "Jane Clever" dressed in a skirt, boots and too much make up. (Really Joe, who is this character modeled after? Not Glenn Beck.)When a grieving mother asks the question "Why did my son have to die?", the adviser feels a bit of human emotion for a second and says "If I could have one wish it would be that your son to come back" and then he catches himself and adds "so he can tell you how important this struggle really is." Well, he gets his wish and them some. The soldiers come back, not to eat brains and rip people apart, nope! They come back to vote, and gain public sympathy along the way.I see many other people didn't like this one for whatever reason but I did. It made me think how we have been lied to about war many times and the idea the government really don't care about people, and say and do whatever it takes to follow their own agenda. Oliver Stone had 'JFK', John Carpenter had 'They Live', Joe Dante has this. Love it or hate it I do admire film directors who not afraid to shake things up and make people question what they are being told.

I disagree with Dante portraying the Democrat-supporting zombies as creatures with an average IQ of 23. I do believe their behaviour should reflect a lower IQ than that, something in the order of a Pelosi IQ... A single-digit figure, please. The MOH series is quite uneven, and this is the very worst episode. Dante, yet another mindless Hollywood liberal (or an apolitical nerd who sucks up to the Leftist establishment in order to re-kindle his pitiful career?), must have finally realized that his directorial pursuits had been stuck in a low gear for nearly two decades now, hence came up with this cringe-inducing, unsubtle, left-wing "satire" of the Bush administration, Republicans, and capitalism. Perhaps he felt he hadn't been overtly political before. He wouldn't exactly be the first no-talent to use asinine political propaganda to further his career, when all else fails. The maker of turds such as "Piranha", "The Howling", and "Matinee", Dante has been as useful a contributor to the horror genre as Adolf Hitler had been to world peace.TH uses lowest-common-denominator humour, cheap and predictable gags which even the bluest of all blue-collar union members wouldn't have trouble understanding. Or have you ever seen a clever, subtle, intelligent liberal satire? Populist manure has the basest of all messages, hence the language and manner in which this message is communicated has to be as simple and basic as Sean Penn's name. And what better people to send this message to the popcorn-munching sheep than a couple of cocaine-sniffing Tinseltown losers who've all fallen so low that they're forced to write for TV...I don't want political propaganda, either Left or Right, in any type of movie. But placing it in horror - of all genres - is a testament to the endless stupidity that reigns so supreme among Hollywood's anti-intelligentsia. So vapid was Dante that he even failed to notice the hilarious suggestion that zombies would vote Democrat... (That's what you get for finishing a movie school: not a source of wisdom or useful knowledge by any stretch of the imagination.)

This is what I look for in a horror film. This is exactly what I want in my horror. I want to see a film that doesn't skimp on the scare factor, but can add Comedy and drama at the same time. This film has some of the best moments I've seen in a horror flick for quite some time. Now I know what you're saying, why am I calling it a film when it is really just an hour long TV show? Well this, to me anyway, is a film, they just showed it on TV. It's so wonderfully shot and everything is just superb. They had great moments of horror (When one of the Zombies beat a guys head into a table, that was a shocker), brilliant subtle comedy (Putting an 'I Voted' sticker on a corpse just after it died) and some wonderful dramatic scenes (The old couple looking after a zombie who reminded them of their son brought me to tears). And it is political and it does it well. It makes it's political point and doesn't hold back on it, it never apologises for it's views and that's why I love it.
