Young Ben-Hur and Messala were the best of friends. They loved to race chariots. One day, Messala had to leave Jerusalem and his Jewish friend, to study in Rome and become a Roman officer. Am i the only one who thinks........Average?
I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.
There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.
