hyped garbage
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
....... I cannot decide!First let me state that the characterizations by each actor is top notch! Their look, their speech, their moves are all believable and well done. Second there are some really evil & mean characters (cowboy jack & teddy shark) - i mean heartless evil. But there are too many characters to keep straight in your mind as the story unfolds. Plus the plot line seems to jump around too much. The lead character 'Lucas' comes across as a bit of superhuman as he is constantly on the move and it seemed implausible to me that the two crime bosses could not find him. Then the ending left me confused as too just how did the friend get the money. That isn't made clear. This movie (as stated by another reviewer here) must be seen twice maybe thrice for me!I recommend this movie because it is just too interesting and mysterious not to watch. Sorry about the only 7 stars but that is how i feel about this flick!
In all honesty, let me start by saying several of my guests looked on in disgust and concern while asking me to stop this movie. It really was that bad. Even though some of the cast has found minor success on the catastrophe known as cable television, there is absolutely no excuse for this movie being made. However much money was squandered making this terrible, terrible film, could have been spent on whiskey and prostitutes. This movie is like the holocaust in that somebody should have done something to stop it only nobody did. First of all, despite having used the same cameras that shot Steven Soderbergh's "Che", which was a masterpiece and pioneer of independent film making - this movie looks like something shot on a camcorder from the eighties. The characters and dialog were positively too cheesy not to shave off an I.Q. point or two. Unless you mistake it for one of those Adult Swim-type, "It's so bad it must be on purpose"-style comedies. I'll end by saying that on a positive note, this movie could possibly be used in the future to show aspiring film makers how not to make movies.
Yes, I was drawn to this film by the poster. I had not heard of this title and it seemed to keep my interest as I looked at the cover on-line. Personally, I detest hype and the American machine of selling movies from spicy advertisements that hardly live up to their 2 minutes of flash and boom. I am pleased to write this as I have never written a comment other than a reply to blogs in the past. I did read the reviews of this picture and I am very pleased that I chose to watch this film. 3 Days Gone is a modern day story that makes you sit in the back seat of a taxi and suddenly the driver locks all the doors. You are alarmed by this but you try to remain calm as you watch the cab slowly pick up speed. You are approaching 300 K's per hour and the driver opens the door and jumps out leaving you to crash and burn. It felt like sort of an exciting panic watching 3 Days Gone, I found myself talking to the characters in the film out loud. The story is not like other films that I have seen and the camera work is dark and stylistic. Not seeing much direction of the film did not detract from the entire piece but it could have been better. In the reviews of this film, you read about the acting performances as being good but watching the film is the only way to describe the Cowboy. The name Cowboy Jack when you read it is not what had come to my mind. This character seduces you from the moment that he comes to the screen. Being the main reason that I am writing this review is Cowboy Jack and I will search for other films that this actor has been in for this movie alone. I will stop there with Cowboy Jack as I hate to read reviews that spoil a movie so I will highly recommend this film and say that I had a most exhilarating ride with this film 3 Days Gone and I am buying it for friends as a gift this holiday season.
The film was something that I did not expect as I was just trying to relax with something new. The writing was better than most films today in that I did not figure it out. There were many twists and turns in this film but the Directing was what made the film an 8 out of 10. The camera work was really good and only a few lemons as actors throughout the entire flick. It made me think of TRAFFIC and the seedy and dark world that pulls you in and drags you down to it's level. At the same time, the film had many characters that were exactly where they needed to be so that it seemed like you were on the screen with them. Michelle was better in this than anything that I have ever seen her do. This should be a breakout role for Patrick Adams in that he is soooooo good in this film. The reason to watch this film can be summed up in two words: COWBOY JACK! This is a fact and this film is worth buying for Charles Wesley's performance in this film. Being conservative and with a bit of humility: " I want to dance for him at his bar TONIGHT!"
