Best movie of this year hands down!
It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
I liked this movie a lot. The plot had lots of interesting twists and turns and kept me guessing. The pacing was good and I wasn't bored at any point. However, I thought the ending was a little too happy to be credible, especially the part about Sheriff's death sentence being commuted (granted I don't know anything about Egyptian law, so I don't really know what "believable" means in this context). Also, LOL at DMT in pill form (and the trip sequence didn't seem very DMT-like). But these are minor quibbles, I heartily recommend this to anyone who likes a good story.
This movie maybe one of a kind in Egyptian theater, this movie contains so many goofs in directing (which i praise it because of Marawan Hamed's beautiful mind) and also goofs in the screenplay not like the novel's screenplay as you feel like they want to do a quick and short screenplay to release the movie in theaters and gain quick money too many things in the movie you won't understand it and if you ask anybody he'll tell you to read the movie and i'm like "if i am watching the movie why in the hell i need to read the damn novel". The soundtrack is the most likely thing in the movie, Hesham Nazih proved that he is a masterpiece in soundtrack, don't know but maybe he is an Egyptian version of Hans Zimmer. And last but not least the acting, Karim was decent in this movie Nelly wasn't that good after all and Khaled El-Sawy was awesome in this movie and i think EL-Sawy is the best actor in Egypt. One last thing not every movie that contains a twist ending is a good movie.
The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world that "The Blue Elephant" is an excellent movie! I admire the cinematography so much also the directing and professional camera angles and views. Although It wasn't something so new to the creative director "Marwan Hamed" , he really excelled in directing this movie. but, unfortunately, he didn't manage to show us and makes us feel many deep feelings was supposed to be in the novel (which was silly, he didn't manage to transfer the character of *Lobna* and the complicated relation between *Dr.Yehia* her. It was supposed to be a sophisticated deep relation filled with sorrow and depression, and I didn't feel that. I wanted to see seductive spontaneous scenes between *Dr.Yehia* and *Maya*, like the novel, and I was shocked after I had watched all the scenes between them! there wasn't any seductive scenes only one spontaneous scene nevertheless it wasn't a bad scene. The soundtrack the music theme was splendid! it was really good which, also, wasn't something new to Hesham Nazeh. The whole movie falls at the scenario it was so bad, the novel itself was bad and weak and the end, to me, seemed to be a call to ignorance. The movie in compare with modern Arabic and Egyptian movie is a breakthrough even in the storyline, it calls to a new artistic movement in the Egyptian movies industry.
first ..... i'm a book worm and i've read the novel year ago and seriously it was an epic one so , when i heared that mar wan ha-med the director , Kareem abed alaziz the actor and Ahmed mourad the writer are working together to to make it a movie i was so excited to see it and i've waited so much to see it , eventually i saw it today and i'm still not believing that it's an Egyptian movie . the cinematography ,sound effects, graphics and directing were amazing , so it was an epic adventure and it's an epic movie that i highly recommend . the thing that i mostly admire in that movie that it's talking about things in our heritage , legends that we know and will fear .
