Soaked in Bleach
June. 09,2015Twenty years ago, Kurt Cobain was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound to the head. The world was told it was a suicide, but evidence would lead many people to believe it might be otherwise. The film investigates the possibilities that exist that Kurt Cobain's death might not have been a suicide, that the Seattle Police Department rushed their verdict, and the global media perpetuated lies and misinformation fed to them by Courtney Love that created the belief in many that Cobain killed himself—but when revealed to be lies—lead many to now question what happened.

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.
This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
Just to make clear: Cobain is one of my favorite people i lived among in this planet. This documentary is so bad, is funny. Aesthetically it is awful, no taste at all like a cheap crime tv show, you must really lack talent to make something THAT bad, considering you have all of these exhibits (true of false) and still make this conservative, inhuman piece of work. Putting the horrible photography aside, putting the horrible acting (this is a mean person look the actor, he/she is trying so hard to show you that his/her character is so mean you would understand it even on mute) also aside, the "director" should be ashamed portraying Courtney Love as vicious by using cheap puritanical shots of "people making out in the same room with her" (evil duh?), "her friend touched her in a -probably- erotic way" (a bisexual probably? What a nasty person, duh?), a junkie (as also Kurt, duh?). This is insulting at least and pure stupidity if the director took by the book the descriptions of Mr Grant - who is anyway focused in a purpose, find justice or cash a death, and, you know, i don't really care, because demonizing people through their weaknesses, habits, orientation and other paleolithic, human-hating point of views is pure TRASH and all of people made this should be ashamed. Cobain would spit on this first, even murdered.
A seamless documentary that really should have been a Oscar contender. The film clearly shows there is enough evidence to reopen the investigation into Cobain's death, and I'm betting there is more evidence that wasn't accounted for here. The fact is, over twenty years later, this is still a hot topic that doesn't seem to be going away any time soon, so why not reopen the damn case? I heard this film was one of the most obstructed in history- in other words, people we're trying really hard to prevent this film from being seen, that in itself is enough reason to watch it. Benjamin Statler surely has a bright future ahead in the world of filmmaking and I can't wait to see his next film.
I recently viewed the film Soaked in Bleach (2015) about Kurt Cobain. I was really excited to watch this as I had seen many documentaries about the artist and his controversial death. I will preference this by saying while he was active in music I was not a huge fan. It wasn't until after his passing that I became interested in his story. I will say that there are documentaries available that were more complete than the movie being reviewed. As the premise was there it was just missing certain emotional beats that would have greatly enhanced the viewing experience. A story like this with possible betrayal, tragedy and suspense should be the perfect ingredients for an Oscar nominated productions sadly Soaked in Bleach fell short in several areas. I recommend anyone to see it for yourselves but for me it was not my cup of tea.
This movie is so well made. It draws you in from the beginning and keeps you in its clutches until the end that you knew was coming but hoped you wouldn't hear because the grunge rock loving teen inside you starts crying again. The evidence is clearly laid out. The facts are there. People have been arguing this since it happened but now there is an overwhelming amount of proof that the Seattle PD messed up, and they should have looked more into it. There needs to be a formal investigation so we can finally put it to rest. We want the truth for Kurt. He was such an icon in so many peoples lives that the fans deserve to know what truly happened.I hope people continue to spread the word about this movie because the truth really does need to be exposed, whether Courtney did it or not. Which she did.
