Highly Overrated But Still Good
Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Acting in this film is very good even from the supporting cast, but the plot was done poorly. The fact the shes getting justice for her dad who was innocent of a crime he didn't commit makes sense up until the point Josie frames a guy for a murder he didn't commit. Josie shows no remorse for this and just moves on to the next guard which really doesn't make sense, its not like they are responsible for her dad being convicted or that they enjoyed killing her father.
I really don't understand the hate for this film. Great performances from both leads, solid plot, strong supporting performances. It's not perfect and it's a little slow at times but it's far better than some dreck that gets glowing reviews on here.
Massive Spoilers Ahead A rating of 4.7 for this movie is utterly unfair and completely nonsensical since it is very well acted by both Sophie Turner and Dylan McDermott. The story itself seems to have some flaws, or maybe just the character Josie lacks reason for her revenge to be so thoroughly planned since the only real person to blame the death of her father would be whoever judged him guilty in court (others where just doing their job and what they've been told) but she decides to get her revenge upon everyone involved which is getting really carried away and even messing with other people's lives who had nothing to do with it (Marcus is gonna probably be executed while being innocent just like her father, or at least have his life ruined) so not a lot of consideration by her part. But overall the movie is a very decent watch and it doesn't make any sense to me the average score is this low. Whoever rates this lower than 6 is having delusional expectations over small and simplistic movie that was done as well as it could.
Hank, a solitary man living a dull existence in the sleepy, Southern town raises eyebrows when he develops a questionable relationship with Josie, a recently transplanted high school student. To be honest i wasn't expecting this movie to be good and all of my fears came true i'm afraid, the perfomances from both main stars are good for the most part but the film is so freaking slow and their relationship leads to a horrible finale that was terrible on so many levels that left me shocked in a bad way. (2/10)
